I mean aside from the tattoos. I might be a fart sniffer but I want a diagnosis before I get myself too worried about it

Here's my unpopular opinion. They didn't turn their body into a canvas, but the funny papers. There is just not enough control / nuance to the tattoo medium.

Taking a 1-hour tattoo and a painting which took weeks/months of meticulous work, and comparing them in terms of detail, is kinda like saying itโs dumb to practice guitar because orchestras exist

UO Diet soda is worse for you than the regular soda. Because of the carcinogenic artificial sweeteners taking their place. https://amp.cancer.org/cancer/risk-prevention/chemicals/aspartame.html UO Mints are better than gum. Because of the same sweetenrs being used in almost all gum varieties. Altoids & a lot of other mints donโt contain anything but natural sugar and flavor.

These are some of my favorites. You never tried one? 1 calorie.
True story. One time I saw the kid who shoved maybe 15 of these in his mouth. Then he started breathing imaginary fire all over the airport.๐ It was really funny.

That link you sent pretty much contradicts your claim that artificial sweeteners are carcinogenic. It talks about the marked lack of clear evidence supporting any claim of carcinogenic classification, and states the absurd amount of aspartame and diet sodas you'd have to consume per day to approach potentially unsafe levels.
I guess that's why it's a UO

I think itโs just due to a lack of evidence. But yes, it is an unpopular opinion. Lots of people really love gum. https://ehjournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12940-021-00725-y
I just wish we used sugar in it again.

That study, aside from the BS surrounding the initial toxicity study at RI, only concludes that statistically-significant increases in tumors occur when chronically dosed at 2x the acceptable daily dose of aspartame, in rats.
Grapes can cause kidney failure in rats, citrus fruits can cause liver damage in rats, onions and garlic can cause red blood cell damage and general anemia in rats, rats don't tolerate sugars and fats the same way as humans do.
And even if we were accepting the results as a 1:1 mapping to humans, we are still talking about the equivalent of drinking a can of diet coke for every 4.5lbs of body weight, just to see a statistically-significant increase in the rate of tumor formation. For the average American male, that's more than 44 cans of diet coke (4.2 gallons of liquid, and more than 1800mg of caffeine) per day. This also equates to nearly 400 pieces of artificially sweetened chewing gum per day. There are plenty of polls showing that the vast majority of people do not consume more than 16 oz of diet soda per day.
I understand your concern, but having a diet soda, a piece of gum, or both, every day, isn't going to move the needle on your cancer risk, but smoking, drinking, eating to excess, lack of regular exercise, will all have a noticeable effect on your health and longevity. On the other hand, I agree with the suggestions of the article that more study is warranted to investigate things like the exposure dynamics of aspartame across the placenta, or to double-check the ADI in the US, or consider having ADIs that are different for different age groups, etc.
Obviously you're free to have whatever opinion you'd like in the matter. Either way, good discussion. ๐

Iโm not saying you canโt have a piece of candy once in a while. Iโm not saying thatโs gonna give you cancer immediately. But I know people that chew gum every single day. I wouldnโt recommend that to people. Thank you for your response Captain.
Iโm sure you can respect that I run a tight ship.๐
