One last remark about landlords. I always had other jobs and always had a hand in a few things. In a month I'll be down to one house because being a landlord sucks and I don't need rentals anymore. Mostly because most tenants suck and are irresponsible and even the good ones eventually have issues that cause that to change
It may not be as hard as my other jobs like dropping 70 ft trees or roofing or anything else I do around a house, but it's no walk in the park. I've done a lot of work for multiple landlords that own over 150 units. The richest one is the worst and even though his places are nice, people call him a slumlord. The other one is really decent to his people and I respect that a lot
BeefSupreme, I'm too tired to get more into it, but I respect a lot of what you said here. I think we probably are a lot alike

Damn dog.
If you buried some in the woods. Could you hide a treasure map in town that only I could find. So that I could find literal buried treasure? 🤣😂🤣
Or is that against community guidelines. It would literally be something I would have to dig up out of the woods.

i got real tired of renting too. as i said, i keep my cabin rented to an older couple that takes real nice care of it. better that than the rats destroying it. Always tried to help friends out and they returned the favor by trashing my place. Had a friend one time no shit, he got out of his mind on benzos and caulked the space between the trim and hardwood floor with fucking silicone because he thought there were spiders coming out of the gap. i never did get it all off.
Im presently driving uber man, no judgement from me. I was almost killed by some crackhead with a big hinting knife back in 2021 so i cant really do the heavy shit anymore. Had to sell some assets to pay some medical bills I also did big timbers up in maine. Im applying for a mig job on a semi trailer manufacturer presently but i have my doubts of pulling 50 hour night shifts at 41 years old but im gonna try like hell. Getting old is hell.
Take it easy stal.

Dang Beef, you’ve been thru the ringer thanks to that crackhead. Sounds like you were able to do what you gotta do though Yeah, even friends and relatives aren’t respectful tenants. One of my best tenants was on section 8, left the place just like she found it, always on time and only moved cause she kept having babies and needed more room
The worst one hid her hoarding, got 3 months behind on rent, moved out, pretended she still lived there, and locked a dog in there for a month so he could shit all over the hoard piles. We took about 60 cubic yards of garbage out and had to remodel the whole place afterwards
50 hrs a week on nights does sound tough but I bet it pays good. I’m pushing 50 so I know about that hell

I respect everything. I have actively done work for free on this piece of shit. Just because I want this place to be better than it is. We do actually have a slumlord now. Her brother was an actual landlord. He died under mysterious circumstances… With no exaggeration. If anyone’s curious. I could probably pull up a news story about it.
https://b-townblog.com/bodies-presumed-to-be-of-james-le-vanna-nguyen-recovered-from-lake-washington/
He would come over here when he heard there was something wrong within the week. Even though he was busy. And he would do it himself. Which I didn’t really want. Because he was not a plumber or a contractor by any means. But at the very least, he was responsive and tried. A lot of these landlords don’t even try anymore. But a bad tenant can be a bad person. They know someone else is gonna have to live there. I worked as a maintenance man. There was one that was insane. I don’t know what drugs this person was on. But I probably still have pictures on my phone because it was goddamn remarkably bad. He had been pulling apart pieces from his car and bringing them up into the apartment. I don’t know why. He certainly wasn’t putting it back together. And it never drove. We ended up having it towed.

You don’t think that the homeless crisis has anything to do with people having 14 different houses with only two of them having people in them?
Related question, are you a landlord?
No, not a landlord.
We have over 1,000,000 immigrants moving each year to the UK. Those immigrants live in houses, so the fundamental rules of supply and demand mean that, because we simply don't have enough capacity to build more, the price of house ownership and renting increases.

Literally put your mind to it and you can escape the housing nightmare, but most would rather complain and wish everything was given to them for free. If your state wont work then move. Sad. I bought my fixer upper for 40k working in factories
Way to cram all of your taking points into this fruitcake of a post.

My talking points were this: landlords arent evil, you CAN buy a house if you work hard, you CAN do it, just positive optimism from me. Just look how my optimism gets met with viceral pessimism. They knee jerk with "NO WE CANT, LAND LORDS ARE EVIL AND WE NEED FREE HOUSING" its really sad
Im an asshole for saying "yes you can do it"
I think beef is the asshole for slandering me in a multitude of ways and then basically saying he is way more successful and richer than me, ive only disclosed that im an average poor boy joe who managed to buy a house and saying others can do it too, and im the asshole for being encouraging. What a backwards world we live in, its a shame

You call everone a lazy freeloader. you call me sad. you put words in my mouth and take what ive said out of context and down-rate me. You codescend everyone and everything you say smacks of arrogance and I know im not the only one who sees it.
you spit on everyone and then feel bad for yourself when someone shoots back? thats the tell-tale sign of emotional immaturity and Im not taking that back.
Im not rich and ive never stolen or had anything handed to me trees so cut the shit. also, slander is spoken. libel is written. both are defined by the absence of truth. I didnt say anything about you that wasnt true and i certainly didnt call you names as youre doing now.
look man, If you werent deliberately trying to insult me and everyone else, my bad. ill apologize and withdraw my statement. you were still clumsy and condescending even if you werent being malicious. You put me in a position of defending myself so quit playing this averge working joe fiddle.
im happy to resolve it and apologize trees but cut the shit. You can make your point without condescending everyone trees. Youre not smarter or harder working than anyone here, youre just not experienced enough to see it.

Unpopular opinion:
Most people do jobs that are tedious and time consuming to learn, but extremely easy on a regular basis. It's highly respectable when someone has to perform at a high level to succeed, no matter what they're doing.
They could be a chess master in a tournament, an NFL player, or an artist. Could also be some high level math and science position. Surgeons are a great example of this.
Etc. etc.

the work i do pretty much has to be perfect. someone will die or i could get sued if i fuck up. the most of my living has been made digging up broken pipes under ground and fixing them. It bothers me that I dont get paid very well for that kind of pressure. I deal with electrical lines, gas lines, and all sorts of hazards.. One time i broke up this concrete slab with a loader hammer and as i was loading it out, i unearthed a gallon ziplock bag full of bloody clothes. (or something) had to report to the police. they shut down the entire jobsite for two weeks.
yet i make school teacher salary which, btw, is also way underpaid.

Well you aren't really included in my opinion then. Not all talent gets paid with a fair talent/reward ratio; it's bullshit. I have the utmost respect for contractors or other professionals that are working with very slim margins of error just to have the job considered "successful".
