I've never done crack but some friends of mine back when I was 21 were doing crack while I was doing coke. I heard that crack is similar to coke but only it makes you more outwardly while coke makes you more inwardly and not want to talk.

Unpopular opinion:
People who smoke tobacco cigarettes are the trashiest people on the planet. They always smell and they think they own the air. I'd say it's even more gross than someone smoking meth or crack, ONLY because it smells so bad. At least with meth, it doesn't smell in a room of people smoking it, unless it blows right in front of you but even then, it only smells like mild melted plastic for a couple of seconds.
They really need to make cigarettes SMELL BETTER.

They sang 'ding-dong the witch is dead', at her funeral. My slutty tween cousins and sister all picked up the habit in the same Summer when an unpopular aunt died of cancer, from bleeding out her privates in a bed. These Squidbilly relatives would hot box a Cadillac and a doublewide to the point that I would get sick for a few days, if I came to visit. But, the cause of the cancer was determined to be iron shavings, because she did some work at a cannery and processed some mail, using automated machinery.
Quote:
After using a marijuana vape pen for just six months, a 49-year-old retired dog trainer went to the doctor coughing and wheezing, reporting shortness of breath upon exertion. The woman had smoked off and on through her teens and twenties, but was healthy — other than her worrying throat symptoms.
Her doctors gave her a rare and surprising diagnosis: hard-metal pneumoconiosis — a lung disease known as “cobalt lung.”
Until now, this lung condition was most often seen in one particular group of people: metal workers. Typically, people who sharpen tools, polish diamonds, or make dental prosthetics are at risk of developing “cobalt lung,” not dog trainers.

I thought that a smoke and a nightcap where medicinal, in their era, and that quality tobacco smells good, before it has gone stale. Most people just never seem to find the perfect, satisfying toke which is enough.
The issue was never vape vs. the old fashioned way.

Call me crazy but I feel like smoke inhalation probably isn’t a healthy practice even if it doesn’t kill you horribly. You’d probably be better without it.

I think some people like most centenarians smoked a lot, they could handle it probably by stacking enough of the right lifestyle and mental health habits in their favor

Yeah I agree. A good diet and regular physical labor is able to offset the negatives of smoking by a factor of about 5 from what I’ve heard.
But then, you know, it would still be better if people didn’t inhale smoke. Do what you want I’m not saying you’re an idiot or bad person if you smoke things. It doesn’t bother me. Just from a medical standpoint it’s just better to not smoke.

My great grandfather smoked since he was 8 from his fathers tobacco plants. Then he smoked pipe and then camel non filters then camel filters until he died also at 96.
I'm with you, the scented tobacco that he used to smoke from a pipe sometimes smelled very good.
Edit: even all the way up to the end when he had another stoke days before his death he wanted a cig when he came out of it for a bit. He wanted to die at the house so I made sure that happened, and also gave him that cig cos you should never deny a person their dying wish if possible.....

Unpopular opinion: I think it's just like every living thing. Genetics. Some people's lungs can handle damn near 100 years of smoking and some can't

“Can handle” is a bad metric, imo. It would have been better for him if he hadn’t smoked.

You can smoke daily and you're just significantly increasing your risk of cancer, pneumonia, copd, etc. It's bad for you, and certainly increases your risks of early death, but like trees said it's just a piece of the health puzzle a the end of the day.
If you're chair or bed bound all day though it's a much less healthy situation. People deteriorate quickly when they stop moving on their own.
Worked at a nursing home like 10 years ago, just as a cook. My wife is a nurse and worked at several nursing homes early on as well.
From what I saw when I worked at one though, every single person in their late 90s and 100s was still walking. They drank coffee (and got mad if anyone insisted they drink decaf instead), ate ice cream and bacon, woke up before 7 am, talked to people daily, some of them even snuck in the occasional smoke or beer in when family would pick them up for the day. Even a completely blind woman who was 102 was still walking around on her own two feet to get to and from places, with help of course.
Not everyone has the luxury due to medical ailments, but if you have the ability don't stop walking and do whatever you can to keep moving. Movement is life.
Many of those people in their 90s or 100s eventually would die because they'd fall and have a small injury that made them bed bound and then their health just deteriorates from there. It's completely unavoidable when you're pushing 100.
We can't all live to 100 even with all the right decisions in place, but if you're balancing statistical decisions to get there I'd guess that regularly moving around and not sitting around for hours on end is more important than literally anything else.
