Humans wrote the Bible and all religious texts for that matter. You think humans never tampered with all religios texts? You ever read about the crusades?
Blind faith is cool.....as long as it isn't in humans.

Adrenognome said: I was under the impression you felt as though the Bible was a fictional storybook. If you believed otherwise you might not feel the way you do about Jesus. The Holy Bible is the Word of God. Inerrant and infallible in every way, never contradicting Himself, and has all authority on earth and in heaven.
By saying you can’t believe in a God who allows so much suffering and death, you are implying that you know better than God, and have enthroned yourself in place of Him in your heart.
I’m not minimizing the pain and injustice experienced in this life.
I am endeavoring to move your gaze from things below to things above by reminding you of your eternal nature. This mere 60-80 years of pain and suffering mingled with the joys of life isn’t worthy to be compared to an eternity with Jesus.
Earth is the closest anyone heavenbound will come to hell, and it’s also the closest anyone hellbound will come to heaven.
I never said anything about my take on the Bible, you assumed that. I'm also not trying to prove whether or not the judeo-christian god exists, only that if that god exists, its a pretty shitty one and not worthy of worship.
Have you ever heard of the Logical Problem of Evil? Its a problem when you claim that a god is omnipotent, omniscient, and infallible.
Omnipotent - having unlimited power; able to do anything. Omniscient - knowing everything Infallible - incapable of making mistakes or being wrong.
If One is incapable of making mistakes, then One must be morally perfect. Thus, if the bible is the infallable word of god, then the teachings of the bible must be morally perfect.
Thou shalt not kill is one of the most quoted of the ten commandments, which is part of the bible.
People kill people all the time in the real world, thus a clear and constant violation of the perfect morality set forth in the bible by the infallible god.
If god is omniscient, then god knows and has known from the beginning that god's actions of creation, the endowment of humans with free will, etc. would result in clear and constant violations of god's perfect morality. Thus, by choosing to go about the path of creation and humans and free will, god has knowingly taken an act that would violate god's own perfect morality.
If god is omnipotent, then god has the ability to stop these clear and constant violations of god's perfect morality. By the definition of omnipotence, god can do anything god wants, which means god can actually instantly and effortlessly endow all humans, past/present/future, with all of the wisdom and faith necessary to be worthy of heaven, and instantly transport them to heaven to live in peace and boundless joy for all eternity, without all of the death, rape, starvation, and other suffering that has happened since humans have existed, and for the foreseeable future.
If god knows everything and can do anything, and chooses not to, then god is a dick and not worthy of my undying, unquestioning worship.
If god has perfect morality and knows everything, but can't do the simple jobs that a basic good samaritan or emergency worker can to help reduce or even prevent killing and suffering, then I see no more reason to worship that god than to worship the good samaritan or emergency worker. Unconditional and unending faith for a random person helping a homeless person on the street is not really my thing.
If god has perfect morality and can do anything, but is so far removed from everything in the real world that they can't see the evil and suffering that's going on and use their omnipotence and perfect morality to help...then again they fail to maintain that perfect morality despite the ability to do anything, and are not any more worthy of worship than a wealthy and educated man who is unaware of the hardships his housemaid goes through and therefore doesn't use his vast wealth to help her out of sheer ignorance.
Let me wrap this up by saying that I don't care what you believe. I've always said that spirituality, religious or not, is a very internal and personal experience, and it doesn't always make logical sense. I don't hate on other's religious beliefs as long as they aren't trying to push that those beliefs, or force ways of life that arise from those beliefs, onto me or others who do not share those beliefs...and even then I don't care what you believe, but I will push back on being dictated to on what I will say or do or believe, and I'll also point out when you are making incorrect statements about me or about what can be objectively true or objectively false.
So, if you think that somehow an omnipotent, omniscient, and morally perfect god can exist and make any sense in this world that we are all living in, then that's fine. If you think that everything in the bible is a direct message from god, and is perfectly true and without contradictions or error, then be my guest. I'm not trying to say you're wrong or that you're stupid. I'm just saying that I don't believe that, because it doesn't make sense to me, as outlined above.

You're saying this all happened under evolution, yet you trust evolution as your moral guide. Evolution would have caused every one who you don't like to say every thing you have never believed in.

Why are people left to make assumptions, when you can just express yourself freely without any negative repercussions. Alot of people are upset abut getting labeled and taking the time to type that we don't know what they are thinking. Use the same effort to write what you are thinking, if we all need to know about it.

I don't know the answer and would never assume I did like everyone else. However I do enjoy all of the thought experiments related to theology.
From all of my personal experiences so far in life it is of my opinion that whatever place that we reside right now is not "real" but I also can't define the definition of real. Honestly I'm just as clueless as the rest of humanity but at least I can admit it and not say for certain anything.

I deal with different languages and deafness, everyday. If you are struggling, just ask me to say it in a different way, rather than making fun of me.

No one can put their finger on the missing link, at which point the lizard became a bird, without running into archeological frauds fit for sideshow exhibits.

I'm around deaf and multilingual people. I am not asking for special accommodation. But, If I am tutoring in some advanced course material, I am used to saying something in many different ways until someone understands what I am saying.
