Re: The official unpopular opinion thread [Re: spirit_shadow]

This is one of the biggest mistakes I made as a parent. Was to continue doing what my parents did. I was young. I was 19 when I had my oldest. And I did the same thing my parents did. My parents are VERY religious.
Now I am 49. And I regret it.
A lot.
I have one son who is religious and it hurts me to hear some things he says. He can be judgmental and his expectations are sometimes very high. No one is allowed to make mistakes, unless the mistakes fit into his criteria of what is ok.
And I KNOW I taught him that. Even though at the time I was unaware I was teaching him that.
Religion is the BIGGEST thing that has fucked me up in life. NO exaggeration. It fucked me up. And it took awhile for me to pull away from it. My mom would come over crying begging me to return to church, etc. It is a big big strain in my relationship with my parents , siblings, nieces and nephews. Because I am the only one not following.
Religon tells you how to think, feel, act. You dont even know who you are.
I dont think I really started to think on my own and trust my own beliefs and thoughts until the last 10 years maybe. Fully..
I am aware I screwed up. But I didnt know. I only knew what I knew. And that was their religion.
It sucked. It still does.
I missed out on a LOT of life and authentic experiences.
Sorry so long

To me.. it was weird
She saved and moved in to her own home. Walked to the store with her kids, came home and swastika's were spray painted all over the house and she was robbed. She had nothing.
She is black.
It was so so traumatizing to her. She was scared to death. The next day a guy knocks on the door to welcome her to the neighborhood. He had lightening bolts tattooed on his face.

When I visited.. being from the north. It is shocking to see the blatant racism. My sister lives in Tennesse and I see it there too. And they dont see it. Its bizarre to me.
I have no tolerance for racism.

I was also raised pretty religious and honestly pretty racist (western NC), and only when I left home and started talking to other people from different backgrounds, and different beliefs, did I start realizing that my views were philosophically inconsistent, and therefore not rational by definition. Psychedelics reinforced that realization. I also saw how my beliefs and my actions based on those beliefs hurt others, and after losing a few newly-made friends, I took it upon myself to learn and change. I actually started warning people how I was raised when I'd first get to know them, and let them know that I'm actively learning, and to let me know if something I say or do was insensitive or offensive.

I ended up leaving my religion, which effectively makes me the black sheep of the family

I dont think I was that aware when I was younger. I was really really sheltered.
I dont have regrets.. but I wish I would of done things differently.
But I didn't know
Now I do know

Jesus Fucking Christ

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. — Leviticus 20:13

“For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken and the houses plundered and the women raped.” — Zechariah 14:2

“…but that whoever would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman.” — 2 Chronicles 15:12–13

Yeah wow the Bible sure is good. Kill homosexuals, kill and rape women, kill  the non believers.

What a great moral scaffolding for low IQ folk, seems its worked perfectly.

Its no wonder religious inbred fuckwads are racist homophobic pedophiles

Anyone who is religious and not an actual racist homophobic pedophile is an indoctrinated victim of the cult, essentially suffering from stockholm syndrome

Harsh brah, but I like it! They (most  religious people I'd say) condone violence recently and push it because they feel self righteousness in their beliefs, So fucked. Members of congress espousing this shit, sad and sickening. I say they can rot in the very hell they believe in!

Not all religions are so terrible.
Mega religions like Islam and Christianity are so vile and violent, rejecting of human rights, the sheer scale of violence and abuse currouption they commit on a constant and self justified basis by their dumbass "book", so they have earned every single bit of harshness and pushback thrown at them. Its my moral duty to reject these cancerous conglomerates of humankind

They may condone violence publicly. But that group of people are the ones that say spare the rod spoil the child. They are abusive to children. They send their children to camps where they are abused so they can conform to their parents wishes...
All bullshit

Love is what allows you to fall into a black hole in a different part of the universe, instantly travel into the walls of your family house back on earth, watch your kids do dumb shit, and then knock books off of the shelf and scare the shit out of them.
