Pressure cooker

I know people generally try to sterilize their jars at 15 PSI but unfortunately my pressure cooker only gets to 10 PSI. Would you cook them longer in that case? Or would it not fully sterilize them? Using 3 x 1/2 pint wide mouth. Thanks!

It'll just take longer. There's a graph somewhere with the all this sort of info on it, but I can't remember where.

is this the graph you are referring to? i had it saved in my piles of info i have been collecting

@jonnyquest i could be wrong, but i think BRF jars will not need to be PCed for as long, i think this graph is for grains. not sure which you are doing. can anybody confirm this?

When I first started I just used a boiling pot of water covered for an hour and an half and had success. At 10 psi in a pressure cooker I would do brf jars for an hour and see if you get good results. Cheers!

Yes, add more time and you should be fine. I super steamed my jars in the beginning because my PC needed repairing from years of cooking. Anyway I never had a problem with steaming my jars for about 2 hrs. Now with my PC I know I'm doing what the experienced folks are doing.
Good luck.
