That was a few on the border so to speak or what I could reach. Frustrated, I went up river along the banks where I've found a few before but had NO LUCK. So I went back & literally slipped & fell straight on my ass. After I stopped laughing - I called it a day.
Maybe find out who owns it and ask if you can hunt there? Worst-case scenario they say no and you're in the same position you are now.

This evening I tried another spot after work. I knew it would be thick with vegetation so I brought my machete.
The heat from today must have cooked most of what I found. Any others potentials that may be there where hidden well. It's just not enough daylight sometimes.

I think it may be a new owner. He's fed up with people leaving trash behind when they fish down there. Can't say I blame him.

Tell him he’s got schedule 1 narcotics growing in massive amounts on his property and you’re willing to help him take care of the problem. If the feds caught wind of this, they’d have the easiest bust ever. Probably seize the property and much worse. You’d hate to see something like that happen.

Taking a few handfuls of mycelium home to start a patch is doing it right! That's what everyone should do because it propagates the species. I think this is the best thing a responsible hunter can do.
Ripping "almost all the mycelium and pins" in a patch so someone else won't get to "your" mushrooms is different. It's a greedy & shitty thing to do.
Re: Shroomhunts I have no doubt you spawn a ton of patches too, but propagating the whole "rip or get ripped" idea here in this thread as advice to new hunters helps nobody. Based on your depth of hunting experience, you are seen as a leader, and others take cues from the ethical set here.
I'd like to think a group of people involved in the gathering of wild psychoactives could be leading a shift away from the zero-sum, self-centered behavior that's destroying our planet and society on so many levels.

Your local government *might* have that information published on the web. Google your county + “GIS tax parcels” and you may find a super detailed interactive map of your locality. Even has their mailing address usually.

Mulch in central Ohio is pretty much stopped at the moment. I found one crispy cap'd guy hiding, otherwise nothing has started in the last 7-10 days despite rain, high humidity, and trying to keep it watered. Maybe get one more flush as it is kind of cooler today and this week.

To be honest u right bro, that was kind ofa bullshit post too, seriously don't rip patches, I only do it in specific scenarios where I know someone else is going to do the same thing, so either way the patch gets ripped to death

Well, I actually didn't take all the myccellium. I just hit up all my known spots, and they had already been hit, so I found a new spot just before I was about to leave. So, I harvested what I found, and I took home some handfuls of substrate with me. There was plenty still there because some of the mushrooms were growing from a big old rotting log,and there was no way anybody could lug that thing home. Also, it's just too far of a drive for me to go and only find a trips worth, they don;t grow in my area, So, I wont be ever going back. This all being said, I didn't think that taking a few handfuls of myc home would hurt anything seeing as they are mushrooms and there are trillions of mushrooms in the world

Thats the thing, there are so many here I doubt one person could have any impact on the population. You might damage the patches you know about but there will always be others you don't know of. Unless you are like me and have consumed so many that you achieve near omnipotence and can hear the mycelium growing, in which case you could rip every patch within a 100mile radius and render them extinct. With great power comes great responsibility
