That looks pretty close to what I am trying to call melting cap look. Only seeing it in mulch fruits this last week.

Well I completely melted my ovoids in the dehydrator. They turned pitch black and melted into a liquid

Crunchy snacks

What kind of dehydrator was that? Only time I had that happen is when I added to much salt to them and they all shrunk down super tiny and black

damn, that sucks.  Maybe loaded up too much and there was not a good flow of air so they rot?

The dehydrator I like has has a stacking tray design.  I have cut some of them out to fit the chonkers.  10hrs at 125f is working fine.

You guys look like ovoid experts, who can help.

I planted my first ovoid patch this year.  I germinated spores last fall and worked with them on plates all winter.  Some areas of the patch I put multispore spawn and others I put isolates.  In a few areas of my patch just a few days ago, I got these mushrooms seen below.

I've never actually seen an ovoid in person, but I don't think these are them.  The timing is all wrong.  What are these? Some invader?

Ah, the mystery.

First time using my friends dehydrator set it to 150 for 4 hours. I think I put too many in and there wasn’t enough air flow to let the humidity out :/ I ended up making a tea out of it

Holy crap man!! I think you nailed it with the ID!  I added some cacao shells to my mix when I pasteurized everything, and I wonder if some spores made it through the pasteurization and have grown some in my patch.  I am in Indiana, and that species isn't native to this region, so I think it should die off this winter.

I had a decent harvest of those the other day. You gotta clean and dry them immediate before they get consumed by maggots

Mushroom observer shows observations of Bolbitius Titubans in Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois; basically every state surrounding yours.. I think it’s more likely that it just hasn’t been reported from Indiana yet, but it appears to be very widespread across the US. especially east of the Rockies.

I had that happen once trying to dry in an oven.

It is more likely to happen with waterlogged ovoids or ones that got dried out then wet again

I generally air dry with a space heater blowing warm air then finish off the drying with a chemical desiccant like calcium chloride aka damp rid
