When I found my first "ovoids" i smashed those suckers up trying to get them to bruise blue. They were agrocybes. Trust me, you'll know ovoids when you see them

You will know when you find them, the identification skills of the shroomery are far greater than that of an app, so make some posts in the ID section, at the very least you will learn to identify the potentially dangerous lookalike

Sometimes the bruising looks greyish at first, so if you are unsure, squeeze the stem pretty hard and then stick it in a pocket or something as you walk and check back on it periodically. One thing you'll notice too is that the stem has a little toughness to it and does not tend to break so easily.
To be positive, take a pic and post to ID forum. Take the guesswork and danger out of it.

Another trick to IDing them is look at the stem itself. It will have a metallic sheen to it.

Tried that other spot this evening & though my vegetation wasn't as tall Shroomhunts it definitely required a machete. The was damp in a few spots but NO MUSHROOMS. ☹️ 1 of the fishermen 15-20' from me finally got the balls to ask me what I was doing. I told him & he thought I was looking for snakes. LOL
Defeated but still determined I tried my good spot which hasn't produced well this year (dry). Unfortunate to say, even the ground ivy is starting to shrival up + the river is so damn low. I did however manage to get 3.

Wow, that's an elegant specimen... an ovoid? Are those also all ovoids in your signature? (minus #'s 3 and 6 counting from the left) Including the cluster second from the right?

As I was crouching down to look at some pins a cicada landed on my ear and started screeching into it. I think this will be my last day hunting for the season lol. I found a new spot that's basically right on the path, location in my 2nd pic. Probably some boxelder wood buried underneath the grass?
Also, this other LBM (last pic) was basically everywhere in the grass that the ovoids weren't. Anyone know what it is?

I would say the mushrooms in the last pic are a panaeolus species, possibly cinctulus.

Looks like agrocybe. You can usually tell from the yellow stem, the cap is also much stiffer than an ovoid
Are you referring to the first pic as yellow stems? Those two were bruising blue after picking, you can see them on the bottom left side of the paper towel. Just making sure.

My b it must be some kind of auto white balance on my phone's shitty camera. Have you found that the ovoids have a specific smell that other mushrooms don't? I mentioned it a few times but haven't seen anyone else mention it. Smells like sweet animal pee and earth? It's what I check first before checking for the blue bruising.

Sweet and earthly is pretty accurate, can’t say much about the animal pee I’d say their smell is pretty similar to cubensis
