Making substrate for later
    #27118309 - 12/31/20 12:53 PM (3 years, 28 days ago)

Just curious how long you can leave mixed substrate?  I am mapping out a schedule for making blocks during my busy work week and was wondering if I can mix substrate, put into bags, and leave overnight to PC the next day.  My assumption is that the PC would kill anything that may grow, but not sure if leaving it would effect moisture levels. Anyone done this before?

What do you mean by substrate?  Poo, coir, hwfp?  I’ve been hydrating my coir in a bucket, and I just leave it in there until  use it, sometimes a month after I hydrate it, could probably go longer, I used to steam pasteurize it in bags, but stopped doing that a while ago.

Not a problem overnight. Just fold or seal bags up so they don't dry out.

Awesome, that's great to hear. Spreading out the process will be more manageable, and make my wife happier :tongue2:

Would it also work to PC 4 blocks and leave them in a SAB until the next day? Would PC another batch the next morning, so would be hoping to noc 8 blocks at a time.

As long as your bags are folded properly they will seal so really no need for the SAB but it won't hurt anything either. Just make sure they have enough time to cool in the PC b4 removing them.
