Can anyone tell which species? Does it really even matter?

With Ganoderma it doesn't matter they all contain some kind of medicinal properties

I consume them all :awesomenod:

You might have Ganoderma lucidum, or Ganoderma curtisii, but wait for a TI

I'm under the impression that G. lucidum is a species not native to the US.
According to Michael Kuo, the preferred name is G. sessile, but being an eastern US
species, I'd suggest this find to be closer to G. oregonense, which appears to be the
most commonly found species on the west coast. Then again I don't live in the US so you
should take my suggestion with a grain of salt.

"Ganoderma lucidum is a reddish laccate species of Ganoderma with a limited distribution in Europe and parts of China, where it grows on decaying hardwood trees.[2] Wild populations have been found in the United States in California and Utah, but were likely introduced anthropogenically and naturalized"

So, it's possible that it still could be, but I know nothing about mushrooms, and it appears that I'm not getting any smarter about them either:rotfl:

Why can't mushrooms be as easy as to identify as plants are that's my specialty :smirk:
