Fruiting enoki
    #27116357 - 12/30/20 01:47 PM (3 years, 29 days ago)

I've got 6 jars of enoki spawning on rye which I would like to fruit in those jars so I was wondering what would the easiest way be too accomplish this.

Should I hydrate and sterilize some wood pellets and add to those jars and mix it up?

I guess you could.  Dunno how well it's gonna mix.  I'd probably mix it all in a tub then fill whatever you're gonna fruit in.

Do you know of an easier method that would be better? What about dumping the spawn into pans and covering with substrate?

I wouldn't layer, always mix evenly, but the real question is what kind of fruiting chamber do you have?  If none, maybe try invitro in a 5 gallon bucket I think would be the easiest.  Just mix spawn/substrate and leave enough room for the mushrooms to grow inside the bucket.

I'm going to be setting up a martha greenhouse this week so they will be going into that.

I'll look into invitro, I've seen it done but never tried it.

Enoki is one of the view you can do invitro with very little air because it makes them grow long and skinny like the commercial ones.

Thanks. I might give the 5 gallon bucket method a shot. I think the tallness of the bucket will be good for them to grow long like you said, due to the co2 buildup. I might go for 2-5 gallon buckets using 3qt jars of spawn each.
