Could use help matching a blower to a filter- Laminar flow hood
    #27115958 - 12/30/20 10:37 AM (3 years, 1 month ago)

The filter I ordered is 24×24×5 7/8. The SP/WG is .79.

I'm wondering if this fan will work:

https://shop.tjernlund.com/collections/exhaust-and-booster-fans/products/m-series?variant=1071024152

Admittedly the matching of fans with the filter has been very confusing to me. When I was on o cultivating mushrooms years ago I had a flowhood that I bought, but the cheapest one I can find cost more than twice the price of what I payed before so I am trying to put one together from scratch.

Okay so, the chart says that this fan will move 540 CFM at .75" SP, and 485 CFM at 1"SP.

My filter will fall on between there. I presume that with a pre filter it will be about .81" SP.

So it will likely move around 500CFM, but when we divide that by surface area which in this case is 4' that is about 125fpm which would make that an adequate fan for the filter if I'm not mistaken?

Do I have that right?

Would it be better to get the 10 inch model and dial it in to the right speed with a rheostat?

I don't even know if I have any of this right so any and all insight will be appreciated.

Also I'm using these fans as examples because there is that handy chart. I will probably order from a less expensive supplier.

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

I just contacted the manufacturer, and the tech support guy said they no longer carry these fans because amazon beat them out..

With that is still have the same question, just to get an idea of the type of fan and power that is needed.
