I 3D printed some parts for a king oyster monotub let me know what you all think. The holes will get stuffed with polyfill and then the door can be shut or opened to adjust how much fresh air exchange you get without having to remove the polyfill and restuff...

Nice! Looks great love the doors. Something I always wanted to try was cutting off the base portion of an identical tote, like the bottom 4 inches, so it can be placed inside your monotub. Maybe even cut it so the sides have handles, so when you go to harvest you just have to pull that out. Would make cleaning alot easier too.

Interesting I don't think I would buy another tote though. I think I would just cut off the original tote at the level I wanted the sub. Then glue strips of an old butter bowl onto the top portion of the tote so everything would line up easily. Then use duct tape to keep it sealed and togeather.

Oo thats also a good idea. I may try a design attempt at both and see what I like better. Though I usually grow my Kings from bags anyway.

Yea I usually do bags also but I want to try a monotub so I can build a small room basically a box with a door and have an air conditioner to keep it at temp in the summer. I can keep the cost down by not needing as much air exchange that way. That is my thought anyway. Having an air conditioner running as the exhaust is constantly running doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

That's cool, just curious why you want to adjust so precisely how much air they're getting?

Not so much for the kings. More for other types of mushrooms dialing in actives is more time-consuming so I thought I would just make it much easier by just adding a door for adjustments. The door just slides on/off so it is easy to use it or not use it. I don't know if you can tell but the tube has a nut that fastens it to the tub.

interesting.
If you're planning on making a bunch, get a step-up bit to drill the holes. you wont have any cracking.

That hole is 2 1/8 I should have used a soldering iron and melted the hole in. I just forgot how fragile the totes are and messed up with the offset snips. Easy enough to fix though. If I make another one I will probably just heat up a hole saw and push it through.
