I was thinking this would be the best crowd to ask...
I have had almost complete failure when it comes to trying to locate some of the work of our old pal Stephen L Peele from the FMRC.
Those of you who have been around for a bit will remember the Florida Mycological Research Center and Dr Stephen L. Peele. He was an tireless voice in the fight against obscurity and illegitimacy for this area of research.
The two journals he produced while in his heyday, "TMC"The Mushroom Culture, and "TEO" Teonancatl" were absolutely unequaled resources for the time and for the subject matter.
In addition to the individual subscriptions and issues, Dr Peele also sold CD-ROMS with collections of all of the back issues archived together.
Despite this, I have been unable to locate anyone, and I mean anyone,. who has either hardcopy journal issues, or the CD-ROM collections.
I feel like it would be an awful shame for all of this material to just slip into obscurity, but as time rolls on, obtaining and properly archiving this material is becoming an increasingly untenable task.
Do any of the membership here have a few of the TEO of TMC issues backed up? Does anyone have the CD-ROM collections?
I bet we could find a coffee can to all put a quarter into to get the discs from Old SLP if he is interested in one last sale... but as far as I know, he hung up his hat years and years ago.
Just like all ephemera (which science journals absolutely should NOT be ) its very ubiquity is what puts its posterity at risk eh? :P
