Rusty ol' pressure cooker - salvageable?

Found this old pressure cooker from a few years back (it's an aluminum presto). Unfortunately mason jar lids were left in the bottom and it created a bunch of rust
I took steel wool to it but it didn't help much. Is this boi beyond repair? I looked up some better de-rusting techniques that I'm gonna try but I wanted to see if anyone had any sage advice first.

Is the bottom pitted or deformed where the rust spots are? If it is just surface rust then you should be fine to use it how it is.

No, it seems to be a very thin layer on top of the otherwise decent aluminum. Doing more research into it, some dude on the internet said

Aluminum oxide is different. It is actually quite hard and serves as a protective coating around the underlying aluminum. It doesn’t flake off like iron oxide and therefore, once the outer layer of aluminum “rusts” the process stops and the aluminum is protected.
So it sounds like I'm okay? PCs scare me so I want to be extra sure :p

Yes. It's fine. Both of mine look like that from leaving lids in the bottom for a few days after running plates. If it's been sitting a while I suggest new seals. PCs are a lot safer than they get credit for.

For anyone finding this through search: I cleaned the rust up a bit. With more time and effort I could probably get it even more cleaned up.
To clean I loosely balled up aluminum foil and rubbed the shiny side on the rust with some effort. A lot of effort. That's it

Pressure cookers are non ferrous. Orange/red rust is from jar lids. Nothing to worry about there wont be pits from that kind of rust.
