Way Roar! I tried instant mashed potatoes, but I didn't like all the naughty bits.
BTW the wife is going into town today, so I'm pretty sure the print should be in the Post Office this time. It's hard to get around these daze.
Anyway I'm really excited too, can't wait to go APE!

I'm getting cracking today with the agar! Also very excited. I'll try out the potato flakes, sounds like you guys prefer potato/grain water.

I cheated and started early on the strains I had initially picked for this.
I can do some other varieties on the 1st though to make up for it and ill still include the early starters as well.

-> 1/1:  1/7 transfered from germ

1-18 t2

2-2 My t2s where looking OK but not very fast so I went back to these prior plates for more transfers to seven plates this time.

2-11 hopefully one more transfer

3-3 Took a look back at some unused the plates and it looks as if it wants to pin so fingers crossed for good results.
Glad finally going to grain tomorrow. Plan is 1 dish per master, 1 master per bag.
Figure I'll just take those four plates to jars. Was gonna only do the one most uniform but fuq it.

I am of no Authority in any way shape or form but my understanding of this was the community aspect of all starting the race at the same general gun shot.

Someone had asked me about starting early in a message because they had just started a variant before seeing the LAGM thread. This is the response I have to really most questions of the nature.
" All starting at the same time and starting from spores really are the only two "rules" I think they have previously held but there is also nothing at stake here other than the community and knowledge. I would say start some on the first and just go ahead and include the (early variant) in your log as well. If there do end up being any prizes or contests the I would say the (early variant) would be out for those but still plenty to contribute to the log and community."
Just to elaborate a little bit. I am trying to approach this not as my rules but the rules of the spirit of LAGM in general. The spirit of this, as I see and understand it, is about community and shared experiences and critical mass of minds and knowledge so that all involved both gain and contribute to create greater minds and greater knowledge for all involved.
As such, I have a hard time saying anyone be excluded from that over a technicality. The thread loses and the member loses. However.... I almost feel it more important to consider the psychological effects of the sooner on the community. Part of the thrill of anything co-op event like this is, as Inthepit mentioned, the flood of share experiences. 01/01/2021-01/05/2021 is going to be a massive flood of spores and plates and sterile teks. Then waiting. Then the next step but these steps will be shared, with 10s of people doing each part almost simultaneously. It takes away for that to have those one or two people post fruits and fruiting teks with everyone else is just going to grain.
This is about knowledge and more info is a plus, but not so at the cost of diminishing the experience. If you have already started and have more spores, I strongly encourage starting more no sooner than 00:00.01 01\01\2021 your local time. If you haven't started yet, I ask that you wait and start with the thread. I totally get many may be doing other things or in no mindset for lab work at that time; no worries. I may have to start mine in the morning. It makes not real difference but in the spirit of LAGM, I will start a few hours late rather than a few hours early.
With that being said, enough rules talk grab some spores, grab some agar, and let's grow some things and learn some things!!!!

I am putting spores to agar about 4 hours early. Have to be up at 4 AM Friday morning and I am not staying up to wait for 12 AM. 4 hours early isn't going to make much of a difference when it comes to spore germination.

This was basically my plans as well! Minus the children... but I can beat the dogs instead! I might deviate on the corn liquor too, although Bourbon is 51% corn... lmao

I was actually thinking of spending New Years lost in a forest somewhere. I'm considering some kind of portable SAB I could pack out with me. Thoughts?

I have about 45 blank plates still and will start other stuff on the first - how about TOC and PESH instead because I blew my wad early with PES A And white gold
