Vancouver Island, BC
I have mostly only studied and researched on active mushrooms, but I have picked up a thing or two along way. I just wanna make sure I'm correct about my finds today, before I consume them for dinner haha.
Habitat: Old Growth Forest

I brought the best looking ones home, as most were past their prime unfortunately.

All cleaned and ready to be sauteed

Also what is the best way to store them???

Your oysters look like Panellus serotinus.

Honestly everything was out there, just took what looked okay to consume. Would you eat the ones I cleaned up?

I have been desperate and eaten chants in the shape of those. But normally when they are slimy and faded like that, I pass them up. do they still smell of apricots?

I sure would, those chanterelles look good as long as they don’t feel all mushy you’re golden. Just cut away any suspect edges. I just cooked up some I had picked last week. Pickled them for several days and then sautéed them up in olive oil. Added some chopped up sweet pepper and bacon, oh boy I was in heaven. Great finds !

They do smell like apricots.
They are a little mushy on the center of their caps but overall not to bad, and thank you.

WORD!!!! I hate the cold and dread the heat of summer, but love when its in the low 70's during the day and high 40's to low 50's at night with high humidity, lots of dew with the occasional shower. That would be ideal for me. I would be outside all day, every day!!!

The very top batch labeled Chanterelles, reminds me of Craterellus more than Cantharellus
The following are from the batch labeled oyster 1. Panus or panellus 2-4. Sarcomyxa (are they growing on hardwood or conifer)

Chanterelle Find#1, I tossed as it was to mushy and felt gross.
All the suspected Oyster were on old decay trees still standing, but the top halfs have fallen from the inside of the tree being eaten by the mycelium. Others were found on fallen old decay trees. Mostly Pine & Cedar tress, are what I'm noticing them grow on
#1 didn't consume and still in bag from hunting
#2-4 were the ones I cleaned and cooked
