Word! Thanks for letting me know. What's the deal with the Excaliburs? Are they worth the $200?

I built mine using a 20" box fan. Holds a ton. Will post a pic later when I get home.

Mine is 8' x 2.5'. Has 2 sections, 2 brick heaters, 2 box fans, 11 trays, holds approximately 2 lbs dry.

I would love to see your photos. I have a 20" box fan just doing nothing I could convert into a dehydrator potentially.

idk if its worth the $200 PitcherCrab, but it looks like it'll do a fine job. I don't have the ability to facilitate construction products so I am kind of forced to purchase prebuilt systems or I would just build a bulk dehydrator. I've seen some great designs, simple to, but I don't have the space. I got the Dehydro from presto because its super small, dries my fruits fairly quickly, and hasn't given me any trouble. If you're stuck with limited space, the dehydro wont do you wrong.

Just got my replacement fuses today, I tested it with a multimeter and it seems that was the issue. I'm going to install a new one tomorrow and will post an update with my results.

I have a 12 tray cabelas unit. If anything I just wish it was bigger lol. Worth every penny. I will need a bigger unit soon although it can handle up to like 2lb (dry) if crammed to the gills. I would reccomend these to anybody running monotubs. The designs with rear mounted elements and fans are just more well suited tp handle the job. Bottom mounts burn out from debris. Most top mounts are not particularly large enough for bulk from what I've seen. Gotta look at the 160L units, not sure how big this 12 tray actually is.

Favorite? Excalibur COMM2 2-zone. Doesn't matter that I have never been in the same room with such a beauty it's still my favorite. Costs more than a new Hyundai lol.

You could try to home brew a similar design for optimum drying. Thing is like 5000 watts or something lol.

Alright, update on my Nesco FD-75A. As per sh4d0ws recommendation, I bought some SF139E 142C 10A 250V fuses off the Amazon store for $7 and installed one. Dehydrator is up and working again!
And thanks everyone for the recommendations. I'll be looking into a Cabela 80L or 160L as an upgrade at some point, but I'm going to use this Nesco as long as I can. I'm stoked I only needed to spend $7 instead of $100+ (Or $400 for the Cabela!).
I did an alright job of installing the fuse... I busted one because when I was soldering it I let it heat up too much, but I had better luck with the second one. So if anyone does this in the future just make sure you are careful with the soldering, oh and also detach the wiring from the top side so you can get at the fuse more easily, I didn't do that the first time around and bent some of the crappy silvered cardboard the heating coils are attached to. Doesn't seem to matter now that its assembled again, but I would've preferred a cleaner fix.

Never added a heat source as it was in my grow room. Changed spaces so I'm using an excalibur now. I would just load it to the tits, and turn the fan on low and leave it for days. The trays are 20"×20" furnace filters with some window screen material on top,. Check every now and again. Basically cracker dry. Load up a tote with all the fruits and some desiccant for a day and those are as dry as can be.

BLINKfan420 said: I use a Hamilton Beach that I can add or remove racks in. I've dried quite a bit over the years with it. Works for me. But its not anything fancy. You can also purchase extra racks separately. Alas, it is only 500 watts. But man it sure does work great for LOADS of cubes.
Hamilton Beach dehydrator on Amazon

I have a few of these. The first one I got died in the first month and they sent me a free replacement. I though the unit out but kept the extra trays. When I have huge flushes at the same time, I run both dehydrators in a small sealed room. With all trays filled, I then use a hanging cannabis drying rack with a fan below blowing up. Throw in a dehumidifier if possible. With both machines running in a small room will raise them temp over a 100 degrees. This will dry out the surplus in the net 75 %, so when the round in the dehydrator is ready, the next round is ready to go. You can add way more, and the time to finish is a fraction of the time of the first round.
I can process 3-4 lbs (dry) this way at a time with minimal space and equipment. But the smell is stinky. Run some scented wall outlet things to help.

I've also got two 9-tray Excaliburs (2900ECB to be exact), and personally they are definitely worth the money. Can fit 1600-2000g wet in them which is plenty enough for a lot of people. I do also own a Cabela's 160L unit, and i implore you to go see it in person before making a decision. The thing is absolutely fucking retarded huge. Interior volume of the Excalibur is roughly 1960 sq. in. while interior volume of the Cabela's is 8925 sq. in. which is 4.6 times bigger. If you need the volume, it's 100% worth it, but just go check it out in person first.
