This is a psilocybe ovoid swab I need to know if it looks ok. It’s kinda got a funny color to it.

Hey all, im new to this board, and was looking for some help to determine whether or not i could have mycelium or cobweb mold.
The dishes below started off as some scrapings from the underside of a dried AA+ cap placed on agar. Ive then taken what looked to be clean pieces and transferred to new plates. There didnt seem to be any contam on original plate, only uniform white growth. Im quite skeptical though as theyve grown exceptionally fast(full plate below in 4 days). All work was done in front of a flow hood. Can anyone help chime in on this?
Thanks!

Plates from the PE swab giveaway. The MS plate has a couple of spots with water droplets on what appear to be primordia. Second plates has concentric rings. Plates are growing in a room with lots of sunlight so maybe the day/night light temp diffs are the cause. Last one is a wedge that recently went to grain.

Nice myc

sorry to bring this up again:

But ehm do you suppose since this is from Phallus gleba (from egg) the rhizomorphs indicate that some viable tissue was present and it grew like crazy (cf the rhizo of the clone in my previous post) whereas the spores started out more with that lighter fuzz like very many spores seem to do?
that would make the most sense to me, intersted in your thoughts

Hey so.. I’ve only been dealing with agar for about a year now so this may be a stupid question that everyone might just blow off and I suppose if they do I’ll have to assume it’s ok but I have a plate that I forgot to label and I’m working with just about every psilocybin containing mushroom available online for the public. Mostly panaeolus though and by the look I suspect it’s either pan jam or camboginiensis. Anyway I did a transfer on it and afterwords a day later or so noticed a blueish color where I had transferred. I immediately thought contam but left it for a couple more days and it went away.. so I just did another transfer from that plate and

After setting it down for a couple minutes went to wrap it back up and noticed it again. The only reason I’m posting this is because I haven’t seen it before with any other plates I’ve done thus far and it’s been a lot. So I’m just curious if this is normal.

Here's my first adventure with agar. P. cubensis Nepali Chitwan:

Mother plate, inoculated 12/9

T1 12/16

T1 12/16

T1 12/16

T1 12/16

I was hoping to get these to grain by New Years Day and it looks like I'm either right on track or a little ahead of schedule. I'm going to use two plates to inoculate 5 jars each to start my clone hunt. These are my first plates and will be my first grows. Cheers, mates!

Hi, it's my first time trying to grow mushrooms.

I made my own agar petri dishes and left them out at room temperature for 4 days in a bowl cleaned with bleach and wrapped in seran wrap. I took two of those plates and inspected them outside a SAB and they looked clean to me, the rest I did not inspect outside and only used inside an SAB.

Here's one of the plates after the 4 days waiting period:

So far so good. I went ahead and inoculated them inside a ghetto cardboard SAB on the 23rd of December, so they are now 4 days old at room temperature. I made one dirty control dish, to get to know how contamination will look like. I used a dirty swab and zig-zagged it inside the petri dish outside of the SAB. It's very interesting how quickly mold showed up outside the SAB on it and I didn't even have the petri dish open for long.

100% contaminated dirty control petri dish

Here are 4 of the petri dishes I made in the SAB with a liquid culture syringe. I simply squirted as little as I could, but ended up squirting always a bit more than I would have liked. To me they all look contaminated and they look similar to the dirty control petri dish.

Petri dish 1

Petri dish 2

Petri dish 3

Petri dish 4

I've made a lot more, but they all more or less look the same to me. On 2 of the dishes I used micropore tape and the rest I've wrapped in seran wrap. I'll let whatever is in there fully colonize it before I get rid of them.

Do you guys also think it's contaminated?

Yes, all four of the plates you posted below the control are contaminated. Using a spore print might prove more successful than a syringe since bacteria love water. A plastic SAB might also cut down on contamination rates since water vapor and therefore bacteria lives inside of cardboard.

Thanks for your insight. This time I opened them and inspected them. One Petri dish has small mycelium growing on it and I'll try transferring it soon, even though the chances of success are low for me .

Hard to see with my bad camera, but those four white dots in the upper left are really fuzzy and very white.

I'll try it with spores and I'll make myself a plastic SAB as soon as I can. I think I contaminated everything because I did not allow for excess water to evaporate out of the Petri dishes that I made. While it was apparently sterile, handling the Petri dishes with water coming out of the dishes and going on my gloves and everything in the ghetto SAB seemed to have made it very easy to contaminate everything.

At least I learned a lot from this, so it wasn't for nothing I hope .

Hiya y’all! I need some opinions on my first grow (now addiction) and 1st agar plates. I made 3rd transfer recently of P. Cubenis from a pasture nearby and from my woodchip front garden bed that presented cubes nicely for me in mid October. I made a homemade s syringe (SAB tek) and used a not so clean spore print w SAB on agar (but at least had it in a baggie). Ques is.. I know the wedges are way too big lol but, should I wait till mycelium is completely spread out to put in grain jar or cont. to make more clean plates? Also see below in the 2nd trans of sp (idk why I used 2 wedges ugh), should I store in fridge or what would you do with it?
