Chicken bedding straw as bulk substrate?

I have a small flock of chickens in the backyard (11 hens). I let them range much of the year, but in the winter they are secured in a run/coop bedded with a thick layer of straw.
Obviously, chickens produce a LOT of poop! Ordinarily, in the spring I mulch all the veggies and stuff with it, and let it rot on the ground. Sometimes I used it as a base for compost (just mix it in with leaves, kitchen waste, etc).
I realize straight chicken poo isn't recommended for bulk substrate, but after reading a lot on it, some of the expert on here claim it's great in small quantities.
I'm curious how I might go about using some of this? I have some Pan jars colonizing now, and a couple of cubes. The few times I've used straw, I just use a hand shear to snip it into 1" pieces. Presumably I could do the same thing here? ALthough I wouldn't look forward to doing it with straw soaked in chicken waste!
Has anyone tried using chicken bedding straw? I don't think I would go out of my way to use it--it's just when you have chickens you alwys have a lot of poop available!

I would first want it to be a bit leached and dry. I’d leave it outside for a while to be exposed to the elements a bit. Then when it’s leached and dry I’d use a lawnmower to shred it all up in 20 seconds. Fuck shearing by hand. Then be sure you pasteurize it perfectly.

no🤢🤢🤢 god no that just sounds sick as hell lol horse manure is the only manure i suggest using especially indoors. when its properly aged and dehydrated there is no nasty smell to it at all and its not runny and mushy like foul shit is. also that straw would be terrible to use bein soaked in urine and shit like that and would be a breeding ground for some pretty nasty shit i would think. now while someone else may say otherwise i cant suggest that at all to anyone. even in small amounts. when i use straw with my horse manure i never use stable straw for that very reason. i only use clean straw

That makes sense. It's going to get super cold here. Maybe I'll just weather it on the ground, then in spring remove it to dry, then either hit it with a mower, or do the old weed-eater in a garbage can method.
It's fine if I don't use it for substrate--it's working great on the veggies and flowers. It makes great mulch.
