Long time listener, first time caller. You are all amazing people and I appreciate you. That being said, HELP! pics of my monotub. Shredded to bulk 12/19. Can somebody just reassure me that I didnt fuck this up? At least not yet? Or am I indeed fucked? https://files.shroomery.org/files/20-52/907165999-20201227_054752.jpg

So, a bit more info might get people interested.
Looks okay to me...
What is your substrate? Spawn? Ratio?
How old is it?
What does it smell like?
Have you been misting?

I'll try to get better pics. I have misted it a few times as I used the premade substrate from north spore. And it didnt seem to be at field capacity, and I wasnt seeing droplets or condensation. I Used 3 lbs of colonized grain to about 6 lbs of substrate. Wbs or Millet I believe. It was an inoculation with a mss as that was my only option at the time. I've since moved on to agar and actually have some very clean good looking t5s from that same syringe. I'll get more pics asap.

π€¦π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈman yall this is like the 4th fucking post so far today with ppl asking if there shit from that damn place is contaminated. STOP BUYING PRE MADE GARBAGE FROM RETARDS AND SHOOTING DIRTY ASS SPORE SYRINGES INTO THEM ON TOP OF IT. that is the 2 single biggest reasons ppl fail at this if u ask me. i promise you will be much better off if you take the time to read some of bods teks here and follow along and do it all yourself. if you can bake a cake by reading the directions on the box then there is no reason u cant do all your own shit. these places are a rip off that sell below useable quality to ppl for a high ass price then when it dont work they tell u to buy more. so take the time and do it the right way from the start.

Yes I am well aware of that now. And I agree. Thank you so fucking much for the help. Have a great fucking day! Ps. I just explained that I am working with agar now. I guess I should have bitched more about the premade stuff so you guys would think I might be cool like you.

It smells earthy, no sweetness or sourness. I have been reading a lot here and I know where my mistakes could have happened and I will avoid those factors on the next go around. All I'd like to get is some opinions on whether I should compost it or keep hoping for the best.

Alright. I apologize for asking. Apparently I'm too dumb for this. I didn't realize at the time I posted this that it wasnt a good idea. Just thought somebody would have some insight. Hell, I definetely didnt want to put anything online, but I thought it would be worth it to hear from some pros. I wont do that again. Oops

I'm nowhere near a pro but I'll give you my $0.02 - over all it looks alright but seems really dry. In the second 'quality' pic you posted there's a darker area gray/brown above the polyfil. I can't tell if that's uncolonized substrate or the beginning of the end (in case it's mold). Keep an eye on it as you move forward. I don't see any reason yet to compost it, but like I said before I'm still a noob myself.
Long reply short, my novice advice would be:
1) don't trash it yet 2) it looks dry, be sure to mist it indirectly. You may have to adjust your polyfil. Check out Pastys EZdial mono for a reference. 3) if you get any fruits out of this one be sure to get some prints
Cheers, mate. Keep us posted with any results.
Also, I'm not sure if its the same with substrate vendors as spore vendors, but I've seen quite a few people get flamed for naming specific vendors on here so maybe don't include that info next time around. Cheers

Thank you so much. I honestly truly appreciate it more than I could possibly explain in human talk lol. But for real that makes me feel better. I have misted indirectly only twice. I didnt want to over moisten it. I am seeing droplets on the surface and condensation on the walls of the tub... I tried this about 18 years ago and had very little success. But I didnt have agar and an sab. I guess worst case scenario I pasteurize and pc some new coir, verm substrate and try again. But I wont give up on this one just yet. Thanks again.

Read through these TEKs - they are very well written, step by step with photos of most every step. Like it was stated above, if you can bake a cake from the directions on the box you can follow these instructions and get fruits. Agar is easy and will improve your results 10 fold. Coir does not need to be pasteurized or run through the PC, just use hot tap water/boiling water/room temp water to bring to correct moisture content and go. That's also covered in one of those links.
Whether or not you get fruits from this tub you said you have some clean agar plates going right now. Read through those links and I'm confident it will all pay off for you. Cheers, mate
