How's this APE mycelium looking good or bad?
    #27108624 - 12/26/20 10:12 AM (3 years, 1 month ago)

This is one of a bunch of ape jars, this one looks the worst so I opened it up to get some pics. (T3 from spore swab)
Does this look like some contaminated or just tomentose myc?
I think those little red bits fell from the lid somehow.
I'm new to ape and getting opinions on this would help me better judge the rest of the jars
Any input is appreciated

I've seen members write about APE being mostly tomentose on plates...

I'm curious as well because i've got some going on plates right now and it looks identical to yours.

Ah hopefully this is normal then 😁 thanks for your input
I did transfer some rhizmorphic myc to new plates but they turned into tomentose, any rhizo growth seems to go back to tomentose
Plus the ape is quite slow compared to regular cubes

Just going to use the plates on some grain spawn and see how it goes, the end goal is to get some clones or even another spore swab If I'm lucky

That looks FANTASTIC prob very very few contams if any in the middle. I would probably make 5 more plates wait till they got halfway through those, then transfer to slants and 1 last time for master agar. That's all theory though.

My last APE clone was rhizo and fast af on agar but slowed to a crawl once it hit grain.

That's interesting, I'll have to see how these go once I've got some grains ready

How do you know what APE myc on agar should look like? I remember a post you made about not being able to get your hands on any active spores because you live in Idaho.
