Found in oak duff, along dirt road/trail with mixed conifer/deciduous,the stipe is bulking(thick),cap wet and viscid, found two of them right next to each other. Meat is white and solid.

What part of the world was it found in, and what time of year?

The stipe has more brown in it on this thread, plus I found two growing from the same Mycelium (I presume). Much different qualities then the Boletus Regineus. Idk man, just seems different, but maybe im over thinking it?

Boletus regineus

Boletus rex-veris does occur on the coast in California, but it's extremely rare there!
