True, eddie.

But it was my understanding that it has never been substantially proven that the Mycelia takes the contams into it's body. taking your " sick" analogy a step further...

If you were Sick, because you were living in filth, and someone took you, removed the filth, and cleaned you. then dipped you in an antibactirial wash, you would become better, by yourself. By placing the mycelia in a casing, it is in it's perfect environs.

Just thoughts.

Cut the contams off and remove the extra substrate. You should be fine. I don't know if all the scrubbing was even nessesary.

Eat it and die, just don't come crying to me. Many people eat infected shrooms without becoming ill but I would rather not take the chance myself. Also allowing contams to grow is not a healthy way to keep your "sterile" enviroment clean.

Really SWT, I hate to say it... but when you have the fruit stench.. its over, and it is usually white like the mycelia making it almost impossible to pinpoint the contam... which most likely has permeated the cake. Sorry about your misfortune, dont feel too bad though, I just lost a whole batch of 75% jars to trich mold. It happens... just start over :)
