King Oysters: SGFC vs Auto-Chamber * 1
    #27097258 - 12/19/20 08:14 AM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Hello friends. This is just an informative post for any small scale King home growers out there. My setup (regardless of the mush Im growing at the time) consists of a SGFC which I use as a segway for blocks to help initiate pinning before going into my automated fruiting chamber tote. The SGFC is primarily used for storage of blocks that have already flushed. However if you are trying to grow Kings, SGFC's actually work quite well. Obviously the reason is the increased CO2 levels of a SGFC that contribute to those nice meaty stipes. My auto fruiting chamber pumps in much more air during the day, as you'll see those Kings are growing slower and have much more pronounced caps developing. I just wanted to make this post to show anyone getting into King growing that (unlike other oysters) you dont need a fancy setup to get meaty Kings. A good ol SGFC gets the job done fine. (Just buy a tall one cause mine usually start bumping the top of the tote).

Hope someone looking into growing Kings at home can find this useful

Oh that stinks. Once you find hardwood fuel pellets and soy hulls you are golden! Soy hulls really make mushroom growing alot easier.
