Zip Ties vs Clips for Grain Bags
    #27100533 - 12/21/20 09:08 AM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Hello!

It seems that RR's tyvek sleeves in grain bags are now old knowledge and zip ties with a concertina fold are OK on their own?

Can anyone please give any insight on if zip ties or clips are better with a concertina fold when PC'ing grain bags please?

It really depends what your end game is.
I have no reason to pre seal my bags since they will all be used for G2G.
What are you doing with your grain bags?

I'm going to be inoculating (I think that's the right term) them by g2g or LC, so basically I don't want them sealed, but do wonder what the best / simplest way to go about PCing them.

If i pre-sealed bags.I would buy bags that can handle it and seal them with a bag sealer.

People usually go from 2-4 hours for multiple quart spawn bags.

Cool - thanks.
I have a sealer so maybe I should use it.
So seal and then open in front of the flow hood to do g2g?

If you have a hood and plan to G2G for inoculate there is zero practical reason to preseal IMO.

The vacuum generated by the PC never fails to seal bags, pre seal seems very unnecessary, even for bottom bags.

Thanks man!

So clips or zip ties, basically personal preference so long as I stick to decent sterile technique and open PC and bags in front of the hood?
