Half life on xan is roughly 12 hours. So your situation will likely continue to exponentiate. I hope you can find away from it and weather the storm. Its a trap drug that robs you of your soul.

Benzo addiction has been the worst thing I've ever been addicted to. From ketamine to opiates to nitrous to gasoline to booze...I cringe at people who take them now. They're catastrophic nightmare pills with a recipe for permanent damage in so many areas. Those things shouldn't even be given to retarded babies after they're organs have been sucked out.

Can vouch for the horrors of being a legitimate xan addict.
I spent roughly 2 years (maybe more?) with a nasty xanax habit. I quit cold turkey and the hell that followed, for multiple months, was every bit the hellish nightmare as people say. Anxiety was through the roof. I couldn't even keep my hand steady. Nightmarish insomnia.
Look 0.5 a day for a couple of months was nowhere near the absurd addiction I was at, so I can't recommend it enough -- stop now while you're still at a manageable level. Or else that 0.5 a day will evolve into 1.0 a day and beyond. And then it's gonna get really ugly when you eventually try to stop it, which by then it will be like trying to stop a locomotive going full speed ahead.

I hope i'll be ok, i've been through klonopin withdrawal before and the worst part is not the anxiety during the day, is the disturbing nightmares at night, you'd rather have an lsd bad trip.
This time i also wanna quit alcohol forever, it is making my life miserable.
I'll keep you guys updated but i think i'll be ok xanax is a short life drug and doesnt bind as strongly in the brain

You have no empathy dude, you clearly don't know what addiction is like.
By the way i've never done oxy, but i can assure you, opiates are less of poison than the old legal ethyl alcohol that destroys your liver, brain, pancreas and you can buy it anywhere.

I'd get off of it ASAP. I've been taking it everyday for 10+ years.
I was taking 90mg a month for the first 10 years,
Now I'm taking 45mg a month.
The withdrawals creep up on you until you physically are dependent on it. If I don't take it, I could die from withdrawals.

I hope you get better too man, benzos are no joke
Try to decrease your dose as fast as you can physically handle, tapering can become a lifelong vicious cycle.
Ask your doctor a prescription for mirtazipine, it's not a benzo and it will help you sleep

By the way i've never done oxy, but i can assure you, opiates are less of poison than the old legal ethyl alcohol that destroys your liver, brain, pancreas and you can buy it anywhere.
I definitely know more than a thing or two abojt addiction: from personal experience, from dealing with addicted friends, family, and loved ones, to treating addicted strangers in the emergency department.
In terms of direct physical damage to the body, yes, alcohol is very arguably worse than opioids (other than MAYBE kratom, we dont know yet). But opioids can change your behavior, lifestyle, and perception of what is normal even more dramatically than alcohol- not to mention that most of them are easier to overdose on than alcohol.
Arguing about which hard drug addiction is superior is a dead end. Once youre an addict youll do what you can get when your drug of choice isnt around. At first it may seem like that one will work out better for you because you dont have a tolerance to it yet. But you will.
Relationships have boundaries. Ours relationship is "barely more than strangers". I have been more patient with you in the past- when you asked if trading alcoholism for tramadol dependence was a good strategy, or when you asked if oxy is really that bad. But at a certain point your threads like "i have been taking xanax everyday" can only be interpreted in 2 ways: you are stubbornly ignoring us, or you are crying out for help youre not ready to receive. The fact that i am not in here saying "oh man im so sorry this happened to you" doesnt mean I lack empathy. I sympathize with what you are experiencing and what you will experience, but I am also frustrated because it feels preventable
Its like when a patient you advised to lose weight 6 months ago comes in 2 months later with angina and you tell them again and they come in 3 months later with a heart attack. . Or when someone with covid tells you they didnt believe in it and werent taking precautions. Preventable suffering is frustrating
Good luck.

Tramadol and codeine are not a problem for me since i don't feel the urge to chase the high once they stop working for me.
I never said i wanted to trade alcoholism for a tramadol or codeine addiction, any type of addiction is bad.
As long as it doesn't become a problem for me i'll keep on doing tramadol once in a while.

Doesn't sound like you have a good base level to know what will cause you'd problems as you are chasing highs, that behavior will get you in trouble eventually.
Morrow gave you a lengthy response and you responded with your wrong I didn't do that, in a thread that you're concerned about becoming addicted to Xanax.
Being a poly drug addict buys you time but it's the chasing the dragon that will catch up to you.
Plus that stupid sexual theory you had exposed only exhibits your lack of critical thinking.

I disagree with those saying you aren’t eating enough to experience withdrawals
Maybe they will be mild or maybe you will have none. But daily use even low doses would have me concerned.
I had palpitations for over a month after I stopped taking 1-3 mg etizolam 3-4x per week max, so not even daily.
I didn’t have any seizures, no, but I had heart palpitations that would stop within 3 minutes of a low sublingual dose of etizolam. I tapered down using a little piece of a pill every time I had palpitations, and they went away after a month. After that, I’d be extremely cautious to eat benzos more than once per week max
Maybe I’m more sensitive, maybe a normal person wouldn’t even notice the palpitations? Idk

Most palpitations are caused by gastrointestinal stimulation of the vagus nerve. Benzo will help but that doesn’t mean the palpitations were caused by anxiety

I don't think the palpitations were caused by anxiety, I think they were a direct benzo withdrawal symptom. I experienced them without any perceived anxiety too. They went away completely after about a month of tapering down from using

I destroyed my life with benzos. The worst part is, in the beginning I was fine, even the people closest to me would tell you I was fine. I didn't go crazy, I didn't do anything that would put me in jail. I did random weird shit like use vanilla pudding as dip for tortilla chips or get myself covered in chocolate as I tried and failed over and over again with the motor reflex capabilities required to melt a hole in a chocolate Santa and seat a bong stem in it..
For years that was me. Just goofy and weird but never violent, psychotic wouldn't even leave the house and get into random chaos. Then it all changed. For no real reason. It became a likely to throw me into sub psychotic rage as it did to make me just relax and go to sleep. There was no rhyme or reason, it just happened. Like there was a switch in my brain it flicked every time I took it, but you never know which way it was going to flip.
I recognized this. Realized that no, I can't keep doing this. I got off it. My withdrawal story is well documented on this site. Most people probably can't access it because it was in romper room, but it's there. It was fucking hell. They're are people in my life I've fantasized about killing, and I wouldn't even wish it upon them.
I couldn't move because of the nausea, I couldn't look at anything that produced light because it hurt my head (I still made it a point to let people know how it was going). I couldn't eat bedside I had no appetite, but I was also weak and sickly for the same reason. Couldn't sleep, and best I might get 20 minutes where I wasn't entirely conscious of the hell I was in. Worst of all.... And this is one that you'd just have to experience, keeping in mind what I've just said about the physical. There was no sense of time. None. Not just it seemed longer, I mean there was no sense of time passage at all. Everything, all of this was not passing, and is was all happening at once. That time I spent a week ago just puking into the toilet? It just happened. That time my stomach started hurting and I couldn't bare it that began a minute ago? I've been dealing with it a year. I know what eternity feels like more than the average person will ever even be able to fucking comprehend. People think and experience everything so linear it's like second nature. Let me tell you, if you're ever unlucky enough to go through the concept of time disappearing.. you'll know hell as you've never known it in the pass.
So should you stop? Yes. Because you're digging a hole and it only gets worse.
Also, I quit benzos with an actual taper. I researched and prepared. This is the hell I suffered while managing it the best way that can be. I didn't fuck with the taper.. I knew that total relief was right there, and I fought it, I fought like hell.. I stuck to it, and I eventually quit. Then months later I got into a fight with my wife, took doses that should've killed me, chased it with alcohol and damn near threw my whole life away.
Imo, the best way to describe benzos is insidious. Not only is quitting a real habit probably one of the worst experiences you'll ever face in life, but if you let yourself go back, it's going to bite you in the ass so hard you'll of wished the withdrawal had killed you.
That's just my opinion and experiences. Make of it what you will.
--------------------
With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline

Xanax saved my life, it's night and day to many other medication for ptsd. That being said I had to be on it since 13 because they had destroyed my system with high doses of ritilan and concerta from age 8. Then when I had my NDE bad accident I got a lifetime of ptsd panic attacks 3 times a day and ptsd nightmares every night for nearly a decade straight. Xanax saved my life but it also destroyed my memory which is beyond precious and I wish imdidnt have it so young but they had no info back then about those things. So in short it's essential for some but it's incredibly addictive if you withdraw cold turkey you will get a seizure like I did and not get so lucky on having someone call 911 immediately. Also memory is precious and destroyed memory is a horrible feeling.

I will say this about xanax -- it was absolutely epic sleeping on a good dose of xanax. Good enough dose and the bed felt like a damn fluffy cloud.

I know what you're talking about, when i was withdrawing from klonopin, i had disturbing nightmares like my mother getting killed in every possible way, this has traumatized me more than any mushrooom or lsd bad trip, it's really a horrible psychotic experience.

Wow that is a heavy dose daily. I take 3 milligrams a day of k-pins and alcohol. For almost ten years now. Merry Fucking Christmas. I don't even get the point of that. May you manage your withdrawls. Buy a big fucking t.v. and just watch. Or read a book, play games and use the internet, buy a camera and get into photography. Wow. Somehow you will make it through your detox.

Take some Datura. Would be amusing.

Stay tuned for a thread about his fent habit in 3 months.
So are you so pathetic that you're rooting for it?
Even the ones here who seem intelligent throw stones
First off he just worried bout what is to come, I relate to that fear
Second it's his fucking life, if he was addicted to oxys and has only been taking .5mg every other day with alcohol...that's so benign
I'm sure there are others here who are like me and start off the rip with 6-10mg on the first day of a binge
Hes not even close to how bad it could be and I commend him for keeping a steady dose
I had to chastise after reading your post the tone I interpreted was abhorrent

I been taking 1mg of Etizolam everyday for almost 18 months. I have always been very hyper active and find that .5 mg in morning and .5 mg at night helps me greatly. Especially after a weekend bender of booze and the shakes come on Monday, ugh. I am a painting contractor and need a very steady hand.
I've realized I have to taper off both, I think the Etiz will be a cakewalk, but booze is the devil!!!
Don't ever become an alcoholic, it is pure hell to stop, even with tapering. If I keep binge drinking I know it will kill me soon at 52. With that detox, I'd rather be shot dead by the second day...

fuck xanax. That shit almost killed my brother. I recommend you to stay off that stuff. it ruins your life and destroys your brain, really not fun stuff. Life is WAY better without it.

I took doctor prescribed Xanax for like 3 months about 10 years ago. Was only doing small doses like .5mg maybe sometimes two or three. And I found it to be very addictive, habit forming, and also I noticed my brain changing. The way I felt and processed emotions. And it also led to combining it with other dangerous bad habits.
So once I quit that for good, in part thanks to the horror stories I read about it either here or on the internet, AND also the negative side effects I was feeling, I've never gone back.
Do I think Benzo's have medical use? Absolutely. But from what I've come to understand my personal opinion is that they are for " emergency" type situations. Like something to have on hand in case of a panic attack, etc.

I use .5mg Xanax sometimes nightly for insomnia. Since I don’t take it during the day I don’t notice any effects while awake. I have become accustomed to having it around but I use it at most 4-5 times a week. I find without having it at all I get bad insomnia every night. While if I take it every other night, sometimes up to 5 nights, I can maintain the insomnia all week long. I’ve never gotten much of a high from benzos, I don’t really feel anything from as much as 3mg Xanax So I never feel tempted to try and get high on them, they just make me sleep.

Yes, but eventually you will be trapped there.
I am no doctor, but I recommend planning time off work to detox from them.
If you're only doing .5 a few nights like I was, even that was bad. And I see people here describing death or even hell on the wd's.
It's going to suck. So for your own good I'd plan to take a good week or two vacation and ditch the benzos entirely, forever. My brain just twinged at the thought of it because I just recalled how it was, over 10 years ago I just had a flashback.
For me, quitting was a matter of choice.
I can't imagine the hell some people face.
For sleep now I use Diphenhydramine 25MG maybe 2 nights a week.

just like all potentially life-destroying drugs, xanax and benzos in general are a godsend for certain situations.
I've known plenty of people who had xanax prescriptions and never once abused them or vocalized issues with perceived rebound
I've known plenty of people who had an adderall prescription not only did they not abuse it, they resented taking the stuff, but begrudgingly acknowledged that they function better on it.
last July at my psych appt I told him I was having a lot of panicky moments in the moments before work ever since COVID got really bad here, and he offered me a script of 30 10mg valiums. I abused xanax a lot in high school (15 years ago) but I've only had benzos 2 or 3 times since and I have never taken valiums before and the bottle said take up to 3 a day as needed. I knew taking 3 every day would be fucking stupid obviously. thank god i took a pill as a tester before trying to actually use it for its intended purpose. that one 10mg of valium made me feel RETARDED. The ONLY good thing about it is that it makes you not feel negative feelings, but it also takes away positive feelings. it just takes away feelings.
anyway, every once in a while I take 1/4 of one either because my last shift was a real doozy and I'm scared shitless to go back in to work, or I'm trying to absofuckinglutely guarantee i get some good rest in between two consecutive night shifts. and from that bottle I got 5 months ago of 30 I have 25 remaining, averaging 2.5mg per week. I've never noticed any kind of adverse issues whatsoever from this other
it makes me wonder if my propensity to enjoy abusing other things like opioids would also go away were I to develop pain bad enough to indicate their legitimate medical use fortunately I was able to give that up without needing to acquire a chronic pain disorder

You don't have to plead your case to me. Some believe natural things like THC can do WAY better than what Adderall can.
And Xanax? A steady brew and and calming tea.
I am not discounting the actual uses. If used properly and not abused sure. But as we've seen OVER AND OVER here the potential for abuse is huge.

Thanks for sharing that because that describes a woman I was seeing for a very small amount of time. And it makes sense because she told me all that she was taking, and at one point she actually dosed me and the fallout was pretty not too bad but like a major WTF moment in my life.
It's good to know that I am ok being natural. I am very sensitive to chemicals. Even caffeine can keep me up for 12 hours on just a cup but I like to combine natural remedies like mint tea, and shiitake and Lions mane extracts and also Kratom: which is amazingly helpful if you can dial in the correct dose. For me it's 2.5 grams. And I haven't done that in weeks. But it's a good buzz when I do, and cheap as dirt.
My only "medical" crutch right now is taking melatonin and benadryl sometimes to sleep. And I can tell you, it's not perfect.
