Brian Jones said: I'm not sure what Trump's motivations are.
Maybe he wants to help people. I know, but I thought I would at least mention it. He does have a track record of trying to improve our current economic situation with little regard for how it will get paid for later.
Maybe he wants to leave office with a higher approval rating.
This is my favorite one. Maybe he wants to screw the Republicans for not giving him total support in his election conspiracy theory. The $2000 is putting the Republicans in a catch 22. They are either going to piss off the regular people or piss off the fiscal conservatives (we haven't been hearing from them lately, but they'll be back, very soon with Trump leaving office). It really disadvantages the two incumbent Senators from Georgia. If they vote no they lose undecided voters, and they may not be able to go home to campaign with Bernie et al threatening to keep the Senate in Washington into the new year.
I dont think his thought processes are that deep. I thought the same for a second there but really...he just thinks whatever is going to make him look better in the moment ia what hes going to say.

Think Turtle man puppet will vote against it. This whole process is boring as hell. But I learned a lot about Mitch researching his political career. Educated guess is no on the 1,400 and the confederates of the south will have two republicans in soon. Educated guess. On with it.

Trump's motivations begin and end with Trump.
He wants credit, and he wants approval, and he wants attention. That's really it.
Specifically with the checks, I think you're on point. He's retaliating against the republicans that are not giving him the attention he wants, or doing the things he wants them to do (i.e., conspiracy theory).
And yeah, r/conservative has been going a little bonkers lately. It's kinda fun to watch the meltdown. Parler too--among the standard death threats, people are starting to be like "what the hell, man? Why can't we do Trump's 2k?" Parler admins are starting to have a hard time keeping up with the calls to boycott the GA election, and they are not happy about it. They banned all the related hashtags a while back, but that's no longer enough.

Did you ever actually believe that "free speech" bullshit?
Parler not only bans certain hashtags that are politically inconvenient for republicans, but if you get a little bit too pro-democrat, they will ban you as well.
Of course, I wouldn't make an account anyway, it's 100% a data harvesting scam. Pretty sure they floated a SSN requirement to create an account at some point.
r/conservative does the same thing. Not to mention, lately, their posts are all locked to "flaired users", i.e., approved posters. Also, they will autoban you for racism is you ever use u/nwordcountbot on r/conservative.

Bernie is filibustering the NDAA defense bill until McConnell holds a vote for the $2k payments.
Does anyone think any other democrat would do this?

In the House, yes (I know they don't have that role). Senate, probably not.

Either way, good to see all the other Equally Progressive Candidates like Warren and Beto and Buttigieg and Harris get out there and really push for that $2k. I swear if those GA senate seats weren’t on the line everyone would have just ignored Bernie like they usually do.

Bernie is fighting for what most OECD nations have had for decades: a slightly better social welfare system offset by slightly higher taxes. And people think he’s Stalin lmao

He's a member of the Democratic Socialist Party. I guess he's registered as an independent as some type of technicality necessary for running for the Democratic nomination. . As The Ecstatic said, his position is completely normal in most of Western Europe, but here they get to call Biden a socialist, so everything is relative.

DSA isn’t a party.
He officially joined the Democratic Party during the last presidential race, not sure if he’s become independent again since then or what.
Regardless, if he isn’t a democrat, that’s an even bigger indictment of the party that he’s the only one trying to advance the interests of its base.
