Divided government does nothing.

And we can dispense with the Supreme Court argument now because that’s over.

To be fair you won’t be happy with anything. That is obvious.

On the contrary: my expectations are actually so low that Biden if Biden only follows through on the woefully inadequate stuff he does promise, like the $50k student debt forgiveness, would be enough to give him credit. I gave him credit for a halfway decent cabinet appointee because the bar is so low.

Reinstate glass steagal.
Impose a wealth tax.
Forgive student debt.
Meaningfully expand Medicaid and/or SS.

But he can’t even do the stuff he said he would do like 2 weeks ago. He deliberately shrunk the $1200 stimulus check to $600 and then bragged about his capacity for compromise. The Dems are gonna goback to business as usual, and use “it’s better than Trump” as an excuse for as long as they can. I don’t see how anyone can draw a different conclusion based on what we’ve seen from the transition team thus far.

If you want progressive policies elect a progressive president.

Progressive policies like “not immediately going back on your word”

Welcome to the lowered expectations of “anyone but trump.”

It’s funny how the people who thought trump would just burn down the system are now complaining that we elected a guy who primarily ran on not having a match.

This is what you get. Cry harder and wise up. Progressive need to play the game because the game isn’t going anywhere. Biden’s coalition is moderate democrats and never trumpers. Be happy with whatever progressives get from his administration. They certainly don’t deserve it.

Oh so now you’re gonna lecture me on the country moving right after calling me a miserable cynic for the last two years for saying the exact same thing.

Quite the trailblazer.

Also, dude, Trump got a BIGGER share of Republican voters in 2020 than he did in 2016. The “never trump” coalition doesn’t fucking exist. It’s a lie that’s supposed to convince you that 1) there are principled republicans who stood up to trump (lie), and 2) the Democrats need to move right to win elections (lie).

Seriously where do you get this shit? Bill Kristol?

The country moves left and right all the time depending on the will of the voters.  That's a good thing.

I think what it boils down to for y’all (to varying degrees) is you’re pissed off that people to your left have claimed a moral high ground you thought was yours.

It’s pretty irritating thinking you have it all figured out and then a group of people come along and tell you there’s really no difference between you and your ideological enemies. I’m sure that stings.

The left is no more moral than the right.  That's nonsense.  Morality isn't political.

Only when you make politics morality does extremism on the left and right breed. What's really damaging is things like needing police reform but going so far to the left by saying defund the police to a massive degree, rational voters don't see that as even close to a solution to police violence. That's why Biden made it clear that he wanted more funding for police to be vetted properly require more testing and descalation drills. That's something you can sell to the other half of America that really doesn't see the problem the same. Then you have opinion hosts like Rachel Maddow parroting some of those talking points and that's who the right and moderates point to as "the democrats" which is destructive to the objective of change.

More progressive than trump.

Hence Koods' previous "all or nothing" point. It's a problem on the left. Do I like Biden? No. Did I like Hillary? No. Are they marginally better than Trump? Yes.

It's why republicans always do so well. Republican voters hold their nose and vote R no matter what they think of their candidate. Democrats get all butthurt when Bernie loses and stay home.

I’m not sure how he thought I was implying Hillary was a progressive. My point was exactly the opposite. She wasn’t a progressive so people like falcon just took their toys and went home, or voted for trump then made excuses like “I don’t like liars” which is fucking hilarious.

Hillary's the one who lost to Trump, not Bernie.

Very poor choice by the voters who selected her.

Larry Summers, who worked for Clinton and Obama, says $2000 "would be a real mistake".

I don’t think Trump won the state of California but I may be wrong.

He swung 10,000 or so votes in a few Midwest states based on what he said his trade policy would be versus what people knew the Clinton policy would be, and that secured his electoral win. Biden swung those states back, by a smaller margin even.

Either way 40% of the country stays home on Election Day, you blaming a few thousand progressives for supposedly doing the same just proves my point that you don’t really care about trump you just need to feel morally vindicated by lashing out at anyone to your left, to get your high ground back. Thanks.
