Hey there. I saw some LMBs while walking around my neighborhood and thought I’d try to learn a bit more about what these are. General location is Santa Cruz, CA, coastal mountains, ~3 miles inland.
The first 7 pics are from a cleared area in coastal redwood/live oak forest.
I cannot separate the pellicle. But I admit I may not have the skills to perform this procedure correctly. I was just using my fingers and nails.

Also found these in a sunnier spot within a stones throw of the first area. Again I was not able to separate the pellicle.
Sincerely, Vampire Elf

Based on the few I've seen found on other threads I'd say its likely these are ps. Pelliculosa.

Shweet. I thought the pics in CHUCK.HNTR's Mendocino ID thread looked closely related to this find. The the main difference being that I cannot separate the pellicle (unless I am just not doing it correctly. Kinda of rookie here lol). Also seeing a moderate amount of caps that look more ovate than conical or umbonate, similar to the second pic.
