substance VIRGIN - Learned 25 things! * 2
    #27095485 - 12/18/20 08:58 AM (3 years, 1 month ago)

TLDR: Im a true substance virgin. Learned a ridiculous amount of things - 25 to be exact. Applying what I learned immediately. I recommend others to take shrooms too.

Background
I am straight edge. I don't drink alcohol, don't smoke, and don't even drink caffeine. So I don't even know what it feels like to be drunk or high. Deciding to take a trip on shrooms just shows how shocking this is.

After a few years of on-and-off researching how magic mushrooms are different than "real drugs" and the benefits everyone seems to be having - I realized THIS might be the only thing worth trying.

The catalyst to finally taking it was my best friend was visiting back in town and he had some liquid TWS shroom vials. Knowing I was going to leave the country soon to start traveling again, I figured this is a rare opportunity to do it with someone that I trust.

Preparation
I prepared myself by reading many "first trip reports" on erowid where the person took 1.75g-2g (since that was similar to what I would be taking) and took the shrooms without other substances (since shrooms+other things is like a different drug on its own.) I wanted the pure experience.

I didn't eat anything heavy four hours before finally ingesting some coconut water + 1 vial of shrooms. We also put on some good soothing music by Odesza.

Experience
After a while, I felt like gravity increased slightly. After a longer while of not much happening my friend showed me how if I focus on the carpet for long enough - then the fibers would start animating and moving with like ultra high-definition graphics at infinite frames per second.

When I closed my eyes, I saw saw some slight visuals of moving through an empty space. No big deal. However, after a few times of opening my eyes and talking to my friend and closing my eyes to go through space I quickly realized I was going to get MUCH more out of this experience with the closing of my eyes version. So I closed my eyes for most the session.

The first breakthrough is I cried after realizing how much my mother and ex-gf love me. I wasn't sure if I was imagining crying or actually cried - so I touched my cheek and felt the tears and was like "Ohhh shit, this is real". After taking a break to clean my tears and moving to the bedroom alone - I saw a concentrated beam of energy that would focus on certain aspects/people in my life. A soothing voice would talk to me about each thing. I couldn't choose what I wanted to know about, I just had to accept what which topics were brought to me. After questioning this voice's authority I realized it's actually just much more mature version of myself talking to me. I was delighted to have learned everything I wanted plus much more! I thought I would learn just 1 or 2 things today but instead learned 25!

Lessons
These are just some examples of what I learned.
1) Acknowledging I don't have the best memory and what I need to do to deal with it.
2) I learned what my true purpose in life is and that I've actually already have been doing it - but just need to do more of it now.
3) I realized not to try to get something when I meet people and instead just see what develops. (This strongly applies to meeting girls)
4) Learned that I need to multi-task less and focus on one thing more - the effects are exponential. (This strongly applies to my job)
5) I realized I need to be a better brother by being more involved in my siblings' lives.

I applied a lot of what I learned immediately. For example, after my experience was done followed #1 by writing everything down that I've learned so that I don't forget it later and can actively pursue it each thing since 25 is a lot of things.

Aftermath
After most of my trip was over, I decided to start taking immediate action like:
1) Messaged a guy I was recently arguing online on Facebook that day and apologized because there was probably something more in his life I wasn't aware of, and he immediately messaged back a heartfelt apology of his own.

2) Messaged a few more people that I thought needed urgent attention including my ex, and received warm responses from all.

3) I deleted Tinder and Bumble from my phone.

After a few hours, my friend and I talked about our experiences and he was happy that I got so much out of it.

The next day we visited a couple of good old friends that I felt we should get back in touch with but haven't seen in a long time.

A week later, I lost my sense to change the world - but I am still slightly more empathetic. I also review my notes of all the things I've learned so that I can continue to work on applying all of it.

I don't think there is a reason to trip again unless I've tackled all the things on my list first.

Great Post and well written thanks for sharing
Your doing it right you respect the medicine and are benefiting from it.
If you go back to that space for a second flight you might just spot something you never paid much attention to before and hopefully help you bring your list to a satisfactory and speedy completion

Congrats on your experience, sounds like a homerun!

The fact that you are acting upon the lessons is more important than the lessons themselves and I commend you for it.

That usually happens, but with proper integration the benefits last. And as you've mentioned, there were some longer persisting effects (increased empathy).

Mushrooms can provide much for the individual outside of pragmatic lessons. They can be useful for solving a problem, communing with a spiritual purpose, etc. They are "multidisciplinary" tools and can be used for a wide variety of life-affirming purposes.

What made you want to delete Tinder?

Very nice write up of a quality experience with solid results!

BTW, I think you are right to make your best efforts at applying what you've learned. And I am heartened to hear that you at present have no interest in a further experience. While that may change, I'm a stronger believer in committing to enough of an experience that time is needed to integrate it.

I just realized that it was more frustrating vs enjoyable (since now I don't get many matches even though I've put a lot of effort into my profile). It was also taking a lot of my time always checking my phone to swipe a few times.

In addition, even though I've gone on many more dates through tinder than real-life dating, I still have found more great matches through meeting people naturally IRL. The reason is because the primary matching by appearance + quick conversation is a very inefficient way to meet someone that you instantly 'click' with. I guess Tinder is still good if I could get massive amounts of options to choose from like I used to be able to do - to be able to selectively pick to make up for its inefficiency. But with current lame results, it's not worth it anymore.

Yes you are right. Some of the things I learned were not specific things I was thinking about. One example is I learned from the WAY I was teaching myself. I would think about two things from the list and I would just start just traveling through trippy visuals for a bit, and then learn more afterwards. After this repeatedly happened to me, I figured "Oh wow, this is a great way to learn - take breaks in between learning instead of cramming information".

Also.. a big one is - for my whole life I've ignored any meanings from my dreams. Now, I'm able to interpret my dreams (the ones that I remember, which is rare) and figure out how it represents what is going on in my life. I've already learned things from this. It's like a free micro-trip.
