Gotta do an oil change on my wife's car.. what oil/ filter do you like?
    #27093670 - 12/17/20 08:17 AM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Most of the time I grab whatever.. never the cheapest; never the most expensive. Our cars are basic ever day cars, no extreme racing or heavy duty driving.

However, I'm feeling quite generous today and would like to up the ante.. for me, I feel that Mobile 1 extended performance with a K&N filter would be the way to go.

I'd love to see others thoughts on this subject.

I always use a mobil filter because that's the oil I put in my vehicle. K&N makes decent oil filters. Wix is pretty good too.

Well you've chosen what some suggest is one of the best full synthetic motor oil. If it's priced competitively, then no complaints there.

Not sure on filter, maybe match with the oil like Lunchbox did, or use a filter of a similar tier brand. K&N definitely aint the worst.

What car is it? May be able to check what others have found work well for that specific car, never know. But I guess no need to overthink it, or spend too much time, if you don't have the desire to.

I usually use valvoline synthetic oil and purolator boss filter for my car. I used mobil oil once and royal purple oil once, there was no difference.

I always use OEM oil filters.

My choice of oil massively depends on what engine I'm putting it in.

I just stuff a roll of tp in the filter. Works like a charm.

Crazy to think that across the Universe there are probably more jimmies being rustled right now than their are grains of sand on Earth.

I use Mann filters or Wix as second choice. I did used to use K&N on my old turbo bug(full flow oiling system- stock ACVWs do'nt have spin-on filters!) and it worked well. I never used fram due to all the horror stories.
I use castrol nowadays and used to use Valvoline. Not the best but a good bang for the buck. I like 5w30, 10w40 or, on my old aircooleds, high zinc 20w50. 10w40 has a bad reputation due to early multigrade issues but modern 10w40 is just fine for older engine designs; my xj-s prefers it to 10w30.

never liked K&n filters...

My las car a 2 dry sump oil pumps... maintenance would have been a nightmare except for my friend who legit race in few leagues and has garage with 2 lifts and all the tools.  OEM is best choice for filter, oil depends on time of year, usage, mileage how its driven etc.
