Gransfors Bruks Axes?

Does anyone own and/or have experience with these bad boys? Looking in to getting a new axe for camping, and I'm willing to spend top dollar on one that will last me years. I'm torn between the 25 inch forest axe, or the smaller, more packable hatchet; any suggestions or input, even if not from this brand?
Thank you in advance, fellow bushcrafting shroomies!

I like my Mora of Sweden Camp Axe. They sell it alone or in combination with the Light My Fire Knife. Both great bits o’ kit.

Anything Scandinavian for axes is essentially top tier, from what my research appears to indicate.
My problem is, I can't tell if the GBA is just hyped and thus overrated for the price, and something $50=$60 cheaper will be the same quality, lol.
It's my post-Christmas gift to myself for holding my business together - AND managing gifts for my family/in laws - despite the situation we have going on, and to spur me to get outside ASAP this spring!
I'm currently eying the hatchet, which is about $150-$170 USD:
- Length with handle: 19 inch, Comes original Gransfors "Axe-book"
- Weight: 2 lbs
- Sheath in vegetable tanned leather
- Perfect for splitting small sticks or cutting limbwood
- The Small Forest Axe is excellent for felling trees and limbing

They make an equally-tempting, if not more so, 13 inch model of the above. What entices me more about the smaller model, is I know it'll fit perfectly in my pack and keep things light AF.

That’s definitely a quality tool. I like poly handle on the Mora. Just over a pound. Easy to sharpen too.

Nice looking axe! I'm certain whatever I end up doing, it will be Scandinavian handcrafted. No point otherwise for me!
Really leaning toward the 30" Gransfors Bruks after watching a TON of reviews on all of their axes.

Nice. 30” will afford you considerably more capability than my camp axe.

They're still relatively light axes from what I've seen, as well. It;s just a matter of preference on axe handle length hanging out of pack, etc. The heads are compact, so you definitely get more swing impact with that longer handle! The only drawback I've seen is the stock sheaths kind of suck. I found a guy that makes custom leather, handcrafted ones for like $50 that are made to fit perfectly on these axes, without the rubbing action design flaw of the stock ones. Said stock ones are riveted so if you bump it the axe will eat through it fast. Also, the only way to get it into and out of the stock sheath is by forcing serious contact between the edge and leather, which destroys it with each use, making it basically useless lol.
The 30" will be a good house and yard axe when not on the trail!

I’ve been sitting, legs crossed, processing kindling from firewood on my concrete patio this entire lame year.
It was such beautiful weather all Summer.

Merry Christmas to me, I just purchased the Gransfors Bruks 25" 430 forest axe. With the way the world's trending, I'll probably need it for bushcraft skill sooner than later LOL.

The best was my father's reaction when he saw me unboxing it at their house (visiting for holiday, planned ahead, had it shipped there).
"What do you need THAT for?"
"Here, look at this cool axe book it came with"
Five minutes later he was all about the craftsmanship and legacy of GB, lmao.
I will be purchasing an after market sheath, though!

Nah that's a level of customization I'm not into, lol. That shit makes me cringe TBH the furthest I go to mod anything is a lanyard and scale change out on my SAKs, lol.
The axe is beyond perfect as it is.

I initial tools for ease of identification if stolen. At least any of axual value. See what I did there?
I had my ESEE Laser Strike fixed blade laser etched with my bday and initials on the blade. Main problem with that is it opens the carbon heavy steel up to oxidation and requires oil maintenance more so than if the coating were intact.

Gotcha.
Call me cynical, I'd just replace this if stolen or lost. Yes, it's worth the cost IMHO.
