Shoebox surface condition advice?
    #27093253 - 12/16/20 11:31 PM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Spawned this shoebox 9 days ago to straight coir. Followed Bod's tek agar->oats->shoebox. Spawn was slightly bacterial but I decided to give it a shot anyway. I used a shopping bag on top for the first 9 days but the condensation weighed it down and it was resting on the surface of the mycellium I'm worried it might be a bit matted because of it you can clearly see some damaged area from the bag.
Should I cover with saran wrap and poke some holes? It's hard to light since my lid isnt clear. The mycellium is very inconsistent and looks spider web like in some areas and fluffy elsewhere. What do you guys think is my best way to get fruits from this tub thanks. (Currently I have the two shoeboxes uncovered in a 54qt monotub with the lid flipped, if this is not ideal advice would be appreciated.

May try crumpling up a piece of wax paper and when it opens back up, lay it on top of your substrate. Creates a microclimate and could initiate pinning? Temps should be consistent as well as 12/12 lighting. How many days since spawned to bulk?
Edit- should have read better. 9 days. My bad.

I just use the lid that comes with the tub. Even if it’s solid white or gray. If/when the fruits get too tall for the lid then I dub tub (I know I know a waste of a tub) or I know some people use grocery bags. If your sub was at field capacity when you spawned it should be fine to set and forget. I wouldn’t have used bacterial spawn tho but hey whatevs you might get lucky. I can’t get into using wax paper or bubble wrap either because it seems silly imo but to each there own. Search “proper surface conditions” on here. So try again but if you want to leave these sb’s alone, put the lid on them and wait. I hope it works out for you I’m just a bit negative when it comes to bacterial spawn. Good luck dude✌️
