Hi everyone. Im new to the world of mushrooms but was reading an article about liberty Caps and realised I am in an area that has conditions perfect for their growth. I'm in the uk and I know it may be a bit late in the season but I was out on a run and discovered these growing amongst the grass(see pics). Are they liberty Caps psilocybe semilanceata? Sorry its not a great pic. I was thinking they might be too umbonate in appearance and the colour might be wrong but then it is late in the season and they are very delicate looking mushrooms so I don't know if that affects their appearance. Thanks!

If you want to find liberty caps they grow in fields where cows graze and poop.
A tip to finding mushrooms is spot out the substrate and look there instead of randomly looking blindly everywhere.

Probably one of the smaller, moss loving species of Galerina.

Thanks. I think you're right. Having looked into it I'm pretty sure it's Galleria Graminea.
Anyone know if there are still liberty Caps to be found in the UK or is it past the end of the season for them?

Could very well be G. graminea, but there are numerous similar looking species of Galerina that prefers similar habitat, so you'll likely need a microscope to get closer to species.

Depends on where in the UK you are, and the conditions. You'll just have to look, and probably look harder and for longer than you would have to in, let's say October/November. If there have been any lasting periods of temps below zero, you're less likely to find them, in my experience.

Isn't the season over for them ? What are day/night temperatures ? Was there any rain ?
