Fruiting at 65F * 1
    #27091274 - 12/15/20 09:52 PM (3 years, 2 months ago)

Hello Friends,

Many new variables for me as I return to some growing. One variable is my grow spot will consistently be about 65F during the winter. I have never fruited this cold before. I have some mycelium colonizing at the same temperature and it is also very, very slow.

What can I expect from fruiting PE #1  at 65F? When i am used to growing in an ambient temperature of 81F?

Thanks!

I do 70-75f.  65 isnt bad but may be a tad slow.  81F is hotter than I personally like.

Thanks all. Yes this is slow. My jars are nod'd with a 4th Agar transfer and slow as hell. But the MYC is very white and looks strong.

The tubs are cased and it's also my first round casing due to ambient dryness. PE consolidated 2 weeks, cased and colonized for an additional week and now, day 3 of fruiting.

And at 65F degrees it look like I got a few more weeks before anything interesting!

THanks for the replies.

In addition to being a bit slower. I have found slightly denser fruits on average. I assumed this corresponded to the slower growth.

My basement hangs in the low 60's during the winter. Everything grows super slow but, yes, they still grow.

On the plus side, I've never had contam problems.

Is it worth putting a heater in my basement to get temps up just a touch? It’s a pretty much fully finished basement but I could see it being a tad under 70 in the shroom room

i would isolate an area for your grow instead of heating the whole basement with a growtent or plastic with 2x4 walls

:whathesaid:

Ive also read some things saying that fruits grown at cold temps are more potent.  Never tested it and its probably nonsense but Ive come across it a few times.

I prefer fruiting near 65 because I get much better quality fruits imho.

The shroomery needs to acquire a mass spec so that we can analyze some of these types of claims in detail. That would be swell.
