Distilled does not equal sterile, must bring it to temp for time, as for your idea I would say just have patience, no contams and still making progress is a win even it it doesn't feel like it.

Got some pics? Too dry is better than too wet, if it's so dry that mycelium can't grow then I'd throw it out you need to hydrate the grains properly

If they're actually too dry then they likely didn't sterilize completely, which would account for the slow growth. Slow growth is a decent indication that you have some bacteria. Injecting water, sterile or not will only cause more problems.
Make some more jars while you see how those ones pan out.

The connection is that it will not sterilize properly due to incomplete transfer of heat energy to the kernel. This is a very tricky way for bacteria to take hold. Those grains do not look too dry though.
Well you said it yourself, are they growing slowly or at the normally expected pace? If slow this means it is likely contaminated, the mycelium is fighting with unseen forces which slows it's growth. The picture isn't super clear so it's hard to say by just looking at it, although your jars do seem to have an inordinate amount of condensation on the interior glass which would be another indication of bacteria.
Retarded growth plus lot's of condensation I'd say it's contaminated.

Yeah, like I was saying, your grains look hydrated so that's not likely the issue.
Spores to grain is definitely going to be the source of your contamination. No, the mycelium will still have bacteria which will result in poor performance and leave your weakened colony susceptible to things like trichoderma. You may or may not get fruit from that grain, if you do it will likely be sparse.

Spawn it and see what happens, that's about all you can do at this point. Shoeboxes will be your best bet so that you can isolate each jar and hopefully you'll get something. Go with a 1:2 ratio.
Going forward I'd definitely make an effort to starting some agar because this will be an ongoing problem without agar to clean up your cultures.
If recovery after the shake is super bad you can top fruit from the jars, it's still not a guarantee though.
