The Come On

So recently I have a little issue as I "come on" my trips. The actually come up is very intense. So intense that it is actually a little gut wrenching. I usually dose around 2.5 to 3 grams. Once I peak I am usually good to go and I can enjoy it. However leading up to the peak is growing more and more troublesome. Any suggestions?

Take a walk, play a game, watch a movie Do something that distracts your mind
You really have to distract your mind instead of just sitting there waiting , that's my 2cent

That's what I do. I live in the middle of the woods with nobody around. A short distance away is a field that I can see the mountain range and flats. It is the most beautiful thing to look at while on my journey. The problem is getting there. HAHA Don't get me wrong, I will not stop mushies because the good outweighs the bad. However, you guys have a trick for everything. HAHA I was thinking about spacing my dosage from all at once to like .75 grams every half hour. I wonder if that will work?

Eat 1.5g and then 30 minutes to an hour later eat another 1.5g dose and see how that works for ya maybe?

I have the same problem on my come-ups. I need to be lying down in a dark room when that come-up anxiety hits.
I think it's important to be with that feeling. Allow yourself to feel it, to wash over you.
I don't think it's necessarily useful to try and eliminate it, that anxiety is part of the ebb and flow, the waves, of the psychedelic experience.

I so want to get back into this people, but my set really isn’t stable at the minute. But I can fully empathise with the anxiety. It’s definitely worse with me after almost 35 years. I don’t know what the correct answer is. Some people take lemon balm tea beforehand. Other people meditate beforehand and during. You could try walking, listening to music, a slideshow of photos, maybe even a movie.
I don’t know what the answer is, I’ve never managed to find out! But it never ultimately never stops me going back to explore that fantastic magical, psychedlic headspace.
You just have to somehow accept the fear, and use proven strategies for the come up. Sit and calm your mind.,question the fear. Go with the flow. And almost always, when you do fall over that cliff, you wonder what the fuss was all about.
Take care DJ Ed

Coming up can be awful.
I like to view it as, what psychadelics take away, they give back to you in spades. However, that inbetween period is awkward, weird, and doesn't feel so good.
And for me, come-ups last a long ass time (over 2 hours) when it's a higher amount.
My last trip, I asked about this. And it told me to take it as part of the lesson. When you start anything, it often is chaotic, out of control, and doesn't look so good. But build on it and build on it? And beauty can be a result. That is what is happening now.
That helped me shape my perspective on the part I dislike most about tripping.

Sometimes my come ups are beautiful. I get nice muscle relaxation and a gentle calm before the walls melt. Most times however I get this crazy panic attack that takes my breath away for a few min, but I've come to enjoy it as part of the process or ritual of the experience. Just remember to breathe and learn to enjoy the whole experience even if at times it becomes challenging.

Music with headphones, Lemon Balm tea, and sipping the mushroom tea. All will help make the come up smoother.

for me come ups weren't a problem on my first 4-5 trips, but since then they've only gotten worse,, to the point I don't trip anymore, though I might again some day. I'm not sure there's that much you can do about it, although I find observing plants and nature to be far less objectionable than anything human-influenced, most man made things, whether music or movies or even buildings, actually often give me bad vibes tripping and i feel sort of like they embody pathologies whereas the natural world just 'is' without any agenda

I can't think of a single psychedelic that isn't anxiety provoking during the come-up. Mushrooms, mescaline, LSD, ayauasca all are associated with that initial mental (and sometimes physical) discomfort that arises once you've dosed that can be hard to ride out. With vaporized DMT it's a little different. There's no time to be scared once you've taken that first deep hit. With DMT the discomfort (I call it pre-flight jitters) comes BEFORE you dose. Either way, the origin of the discomfort is the same.
IMHO it's all a part of the natural and probably unavoidable phenomena with its origins in self-preservation. The mind and body are deeply invested in remaining in consensual reality. Venturing outside of those bounds leads to a sense of vulnerability. That's why set and setting are paramount and critically important to maximize the chance of a "good" trip. If you FEEL safe (mental) and are also secure in your environment (i.e. physically safe) things almost always go well assuming a reasonable dose.
Dosing so high that the mind becomes concerned you are going to die, or so high you become overtly sick and you're back to the self-preservation issue that may (not "will") lead to a "bad" trip.

My 2 cents, if you're willing to try meditation give it a try. I recently tripped, hadn't for quite a while (a few months), felt anxious so I just sit down in the dark on a cushion 10 minutes after dropping, eyes closed for 20 minutes with a timer. It's a long time for a beginner like myself but it felt really good to just evaluate how I was breathing : it was a bit forced as I was anxious, so I managed to calm down and it enabled myself to pay attention to how my perception of sounds was beginning to be slightly altered, same with visuals you have with eyes closed.
Maybe give it a try with a bit of training first to get used to it, 20 minutes is quite long but you don't need to meditate that long. Honestly, it became like a feeling game after a while, quite the pleasant experience !
I would add that being in a comfy and secured setting helps of course, but eyes closed, knowing you're perfectly safe adds security to the security. It's not so true but the feeling is reassuring, like watching over yourself as you don't have to bother with outside nuisance. And then you begin tripping relaxed !

me and my buddy usually go for a walk during the come up, smoke a nice joint 2 calm the nerves a little bit. By the time we had a little hike and a smoke things start 2 get a little more interesting

I went the opposite way in dealing with "trip anxiety", I started using OJ soak to start the conversion process on half of what I was taking then eating the rest of it as soon as I noticed waves. I seemed to jump into it faster and being distracted by eating kept my mind from trying to control what was happening.

Try lemon tek. There really isn’t a come up you just get hit in the face with the full effect in about thirty minutes. Last time I did it I was getting visuals in 15 minutes!

Thanks for not making me feel like a widget. I suppose a lot of you folks have this issue. I can manage the come up, but it does get wicked. I see a reoccurring theme, lemon balm tea and lemon TEK. I've done very little research in this department, but what I have read is that the citrus helps with digestion and that in itself may make my come up easier as it is usually accompanied by a "rock gut"... I will report back on how it goes. We are getting up to two feet of snow today so I am gonna micro dose and have a little fun with it!

I 2nd the lemon balm tea. I can relate to the uncomfortable come ups too the lemon balm tea advice did improve my experience, as well as dosing larger imo.

things ive found that can help:
meditation music putting on a familiar show taking a walk for me abstaining from weed that day and during the come up helps, some people say smoking helps so its all opinion. taking certain teas, extracts obviously mindset going in and intention is key talking yourself through it, reminding yourself youve been here before and its always ok
like others have said, its part of the trip. sometimes none of these methods can touch my anxiety during the come up and other times they have completely eliminated it. thats tripping for ya. acceptance is huge.
