Two big shrooms

Here are a couple of big mushrooms my friend picked from his WBS on straw bulk setup. The big one weighs 35 grams, and the little one weighs 27 grams. There was one identical to the 35 gram one, but it's cap had to be removed for spore printilization, so it wasn't scanned in like these two.

Nice, but you forgot the strain... I will guess B+ from the "woodgrain" appearance of the cap.
Good job!
(note: you should have posted it in the growlog, that's where we go to check out the pictures).

At least I gave it a guess.... Again, nice mushrooms and that they are Koh-Samoui really impressed me. The only ones I have ever personally viewed where little button type mushroom (90% of them), while the others were small and fat. If I was ever to grow a Samoui like that, I would clone it. All you really need is a piece of wet cardboard and a tupperware. All you need is peroxide for sterility. It has been done... Edit: Just to show you, here is a picture the user charvo sent me of a cardboard clone he did of the mushroom in this thread. He did it all sloppy, just dipped cardboard in boiling water, cut a chunk from the cap and set it on the cooled cardboard (placed it in the tupperware to keep it humid). It almost looks like he sprayed it with water it is so saturated. Not exactly professional, but it did the job as a small little sliver of that cardboard turned to this: (never mind the fact that is peroxidated anti-biotic MYA that I transferred it to) He even spawned pieces to a jar (just dipped them in peroxide). From what I hear they have started colonizing (I was amazed at the lack of sterility, and his success). Now, I may follow more sterile precautions, but instead of wasting agar I am going to start my clones on cardboard from now on, and use agar for later transfers (with cardboard-compatable species)...

I cant believe those are koh. I wonder if the strains got mixed up. The Kohs ive seen and grown were alot thicker in the stem, of course were prolly grown differently though.

I should have tried cloning instead of preserving the shrooms. I did get a spore print though, it's pretty large (2-3 inch diameter) and nearly black. Funny thing is, while it was printing, mycelium began to grow out of the stem! It's kind of hard to make it out (damned scanner), but that white blob is definately furry rhizomorphic growth.

hawk, aren't koh samui known for thin stems? Anyway, I ordered koh samui specifically and I'd have to trust that what I recieved was indeed ks. However, the shrooms grown above were from a spore print taken from my first grow, so there is a possibility that the strain was altered due to natural genetics. Whatever the case, I'm happy with this grow. 122 grams dry and counting (just finishing second flush, about to dunk again).

I recently saw a mazatapec off straw hit 73g wet. Came to about 6.8 dry. They can get huge under the right conditions.
