Your current situation do as others have said buy all the equipment you need and get growing. Find a good tek from a trusted cultivator. Start from agar. Keep the kit you have and maybe a pin or two will show up. 6 weeks is a really really long time. You should be on 3/4/5 flush by now.

Definitely doing that next time, but I don't think anything is stopping me from making the same mistakes by going agar, because I don't know what I did wrong with this kit (unless the kit is simply just terrible).
I feel like the same thing can/will happen with agar, as I don't know if this is caused by temps, too little/too much water or other factors.

Is there a lid that goes on top of the box or a bag to stuff it in?
The surface of the mycelium is nearly to the top of the container. This means that the humidity at the surface will be too dry, unless you take appropriate measures.

Yes, it's inside a 'filter bag', a bag with holes and I spray the sides of the bag daily to make it humid.

fraki58 said: I'm seeing a lot of knots on that surface man! you should be getting pins in no time! But, it is still on the dry side, you should be applying light mists from 7-10 cm, dont spray directly on top, just let the mist to gently kiss the surface as it falls down. Good luck and keep this thread updated, I'm sure you will post some pins soon
Here it is a week later, and the kit is now about 6 weeks old. I have been spraying it more generously, but not a lot has changed.
What do you think about the current situation?

6 weeks is a long time for a grow box, you should have had your first harvest already
Have a look at my current grow box experience, it might help you too here
I would suggest you to case your cake in damp vermiculite or coir, put it in a tub with a couple cm water in it on top of something so it doesn't touch the water, close the lid and wait a couple of days without opening the tub.
Well and don't put it in a SGFC, I thought it to be a good idea, but I am not able to recommend it anymore
In this way I just revived my stalled cake and got it pinning within two days Good luck!

And toss the grow box instructions, maybe those guys do know what they are doing but they are telling you shit
In the end they want you to keep on buying grow boxes, so they want you to just grow enough with the box to do that

No worries mate
As I said look at the water tub, it will help with the pinning, gosh my cake was dead and now it is pinning more than I actually want it too

Decided to use this thread to show my other grow kit because it has grown in the exact same location (this strain is B+).
How does this kit look? I feel like it's very close to pinning, but at the same holding on for dear life somehow.
This kit is 3 weeks old.

The light of the pictures makes it hard to tell, that dark patch doesn't look so good, but you got some beads of water on the surface on the second picture
Same suggestion goes here, case it with damp verm or coir and put it in a tub with water without the cake touching the water, close the lid, wait for pinning and then to put the lid upside down to give i more FAE

Your surface looks a bit matted. This seems to be a result of the aforementioned dryness. I have this happen to me and still got fruits not problem, they just have a harder time getting out. You might want to do some research on matted surface maybe this one, but if I were you I would not flip until the first flush is done (but I am a noobie, so do as you please): https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25406926#25406926
other than that, everything looks good. don't worry and carry on! I hope you have all your brf supplies ready <3

- Cover your cake with 5mm of damp verm or coir
- Take a tub big enough to fit your cake, put about 1 cm or 1 in water in it (doesn't really matter as long as the entire surface bottom is covered
- Put something that doesn't rot or rust in the tub to put your cake on top, so the cake is elevated at least 1 cm above the water surface
- Close the lid and wait 2-3 days for some pins to show up
Easy peasy

You are like half a day late, I've just replaced the water in my tub for the next flush today
So you gotta live with a picture for now ^^

Just picked up a bag of vermiculite and this box: https://i.imgur.com/tc2D97J.png
Do you think I should drill some holes in the box for better airflow?

Nope, you don't need to do that and holes are kinda hard to close if you don't want them anymore
You can control the amount of FAE by putting the lid upside-down for a small gap between the tub and the lid and/or by putting the lid on an angle

True
How do you ensure everything is completely clean during this process?
Do you just pour some verm in a sterile bowl and pour a bit of water on it, then apply it on the cake using your gloves, or a sterile tool?
