On the bright side, it seems like the bags and sterilizer can handle the abuse haha. 3 mil bags for the win!

I can PC 48 4# bags a day with 2 pressure cookers, so in theory that's 2 days, but I can't prep grains so fast so it was more like 4 days.
All I lost is time and some grain. But It was a good journey exploring LCs. I learned a lot and I had lots and lots of good grows from LC, but I realised that I had way more success doing g2g.

I have an AA925 and a 941. I can squeeze 15 bags in the 941 and 9 in the 925.

Nice! Doing 48 bags a day is insane!

I had a similar yet way smaller scale mistake with LC and jars, which kind of turned me off LCs ever since. Maybe I should get back into it...

Well, my hopes were never high, I knew the amount of adlib that I used was going to reduce my chances of success, but I couldn't help myself. I'm still holding onto a small ray of hope but I think it's unlikely anything will happen at this stage.

I got nice growth on agar.

I learnt how to prep grain and got some nice jars.

I had some ok looking subs that colonised well.

But I haven't got even a single pin.

However, after the work, the failure just makes me want to grow pans even more.

Back to the drawing board.

Time to stop being lazy, gather some real materials, and follow an actual tek.

I _will_ grow a pan!

Decided to experiment with charcoal with this last batch of plates and fucking rofl did these turn out horribly. Not only are there large clumps of charcoal everywhere, but the unevenness and clarity are all but lost. Even the mycelium is growing all fuckin' wonky. Guess that's what I get for letting my stoned ass add charcoal all willy-nilly.

Oh well, gonna salvage what I can and get going on whatever is next, probably nats rofl

so i had a big bug infestation this summer, left some grain bags open and got tons of moths and larvae in the grain

i gave most of it to my friends w chickens, but ended up using one 2 bags of rye that were bad but not AS bad. figured 3.5 hr in a 75x ought to straighten out any ne'er-do-wells

it caused far more burst grains than usual (worm holes) and the assload of bags definitely looks less than perfect, even though the masters were immaculate... :/

im moving forward with them anyway, really hope i dont end up having to toss that many tubs at once, but im emotionally prepared for it

I don’t know what everyone’s problem with burst grains is lol  myc loves the extra starch available and jars colonize faster than my less hydrated jars.  There’s a ton of burst grains in these jars and the myc loves it..

.

They’re currently fruiting

Hell, check out these spelt jars.. every grain is burst

As long as your inoculate was clean, there’s no reason to worry.. if anything, you did yourself a favor.  I think it’s a myth that started a long time ago when ppl had shifty inoculate and instead of blaming the failure on that, they blamed it on the burst grains.  Ppl take way too much care preparing grains before pc’ing it imho, laying it out in the sun and shit   I put mine in the strainer for 30mins and then load it.. sometimes there’s drops coming off by the time I get to the bottom of colander.  The burst grains can also be an early warning sign for contamination.. I’d rather learn that my grain spawn was shit while it’s still in the jar than it shitting out on me riiiiight before the tub I made it with pins.

Here is something a little nasty. This tub grew in extra gnarly. When I went to harvest I got out some of the fruits and discovered some serious yeast blooming underneath. Sopped it up with a paper towel and the shit smelled just like fresh baked bread.

Totally agree with this, if something has to go wrong with the grain spawn you're gonna notice it way sooner if at least the grains were well hydrated. Would rather have my grains burst than some treacherous underhydrated stuff. Underhydration often means failed sterilization too.

2 more jars down. I've seen more jars cracking in the PC in these last 5 months than in 5 years combined. These ones cracked during cooldwon, I could actually hear it. The ball ones are old but the other isn't.

I guess this is caused by too high humidity and not enough FAE?

Just pulled hot jars out the pc, went to give this one a shake and the damn cheap chinese plastic lid popped right off. Had to catch the hot jar with my bare hands and toasty grains poured all between my toes lol

Just say it’s a Christmas tradition to spray millet everywhere in front of the tree.

And with millet! You poor bastard :facepalm3:

I never photographed these but they would have been worthy of this thread.

My media bottle blew up in my microwave and the explosion caused the microwave door to open and green slime covered my kitchen. Looked like something out of a horror movie.

For some reason one of my LC lids when PCed caused the Ball jars to blow out the bottom. Open the PC the liquid is gone and took the jar out of the PC and the bottom of the jar falls off. Happened with 3 quart jars
