Identification help * 1
    #27087260 - 12/13/20 01:15 PM (3 years, 1 month ago)

Can anyone help me identify what kind of mushrooms these are?
Found yesterday in a Santa Cruz redwood forest.
It's hard to tell in the pictures but they were noticeably yellow and growing in clusters all over this tree

Sorry if this sounds stupid but what exactly do you mean by "active"?

Active refers to it containing psilocin/psilocybe other psychoactive alkaloids..

Ah ok that makes sense. I was wondering if they might be edible at all even if they're not active

Hypholoma sp.
Compare with Hypholoma lateritium or Hypholoma fasciculare

I believe H. lateritium is restricted to eastern North America, and these were found on the west coast

Likely Hypholoma capnoides.

fml, yes capnoides is the name, i was thinking conifer tuft as well, but mixed up latin names.
That being said, i still see some shade of green on the gills (kind of, gills cant be seen)...so maybe its sulfur tuft.
Gill pictures would be nice.
