Yeah, while not large in number there is some pretty good research showing a solid link between your flora, or microbiome, and autoimmune disorders.

Of course it’s related, seems like a no brainer to me
Even just if you get sick more often than other people or for longer, could probably be improved if you enhance the health of your internal “biome”

It may be a little more direct than you might imagine, as in the imbalance in your flora is what is first and directly responsible for your white blood cells mistaking your bodies DNA for that of a pathogen. It could be the original cause. Not just that having a healthy flora could lessen symptoms.
It's a bit above my head at times, and there still a lot of research to do, but it seems like your flora gets out of whack, leading to inflammation in the intestine which allows certain microbes with DNA that your white blood cells can't distinguish from certain DNA in your own body to get out and be discovered somewhere they don't belong. Your intestine is home to over 3 million different types of DNA after all, so it's not a surprise that your own WBC would mistake some of those for your own tissue.
But I am a huge believer, and had been long before I first read about the above, that intestinal flora plays a part in almost every aspect of health, from weight, to diabetes, mental health, energy levels, to sleep, etc. etc. And any disease or ailment you could imagine could be helped or prevented by maintaining it. And for the most part it's as simple as getting enough high quality soluble fiber...I once lost 40 lbs in 6 months, without changing a thing about my lifestyle or diet other than drinking 2-3 glasses of psyllium husk a day, one first thing in the morning, one before bed, and every now and again one in the afternoon. And since then I have been very cognizant of the health of my flora, and can feel when things are getting out of whack a bit and need to correct them.
