My First Grow

Hey All,
Just thought I'd share my recent go at cultivating mushrooms, been a longtime lurker
I followed the Phillygolden Teacher *BrokeBoi* method from youtube...amazing! I'm using Jedi Mindfuck on a brown organic rice, got a spore syringe and literally followed it to the letter.
Here are my results, thus far.

Image 3 is 24hrs after spawning - Box 1 Image 4 is 48hrs after spawning - Box 1 Image 5 is 24hrs after spawning - Box 2 Image 6 is 48hrs after spawning - Box 2
I'm really enjoying this process and am amazed at how fast the mycelium is taking over the CVG. From what I've seen online and read in various posts on here, everything looks like it's going well. I'm keeping the tubs at 21-22 Celsius until my seed mat arrives tomorrow and it's at 90% humidity in there.
Any pointers or tips? Or just keep going.
PS. How do you guys resist the urge to not keep taking the lid off to see haha

You mean on here? Or by actually making a journal. I'm gonna take daily pics at all the stages as it's my first grow and am literally obsessed with watching it progress LOL.

Not sure how 'journals' function on shroomery specifically. I remember on certain 'gardening' forums their journals were about outlining how a grow was going to happen and to document the process and results in a blog type format. I found I could follow a large number of journals that interested me, or were similar to what I was going to do and then could see what worked and what didn't all in one spot, as opposed to a series of separate posts about various questions they may have. I'm guessing that journals in shroomery are for the same purpose?

Little up date for ya.

*Edit* Am I right in thinking I need 80%+ of coverage before putting into fruiting conditions?

Some folks "fruit" at spawning. So its up to you when you feel like transitioning your tubs.
They look great by the way, well done!

I mean I'm already in fruiting conditions without doing FAE, just wondering when to start doing that really. That's the confusing bit.
Thanks, I appreciate it! First time grow and everything worked... lucky I guess

Yeah, that’s what I was referring to, some folks introduce FAE and light at spawn. The mycelium is aerobic so the case can be made that the mycelium finishes colonizing the substrate faster and therefore pins and fruits faster. You can introduce fae at any time you judge to be appropriate.
I’d suggest bodhisatta’s teks for reference: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22337800

Oh I see, well... my current setup is that I have two shoeboxes on my desk. So the light is on roughly my sleep schedule. With that theory in mind, if I left it alone (current situation) I would get more myc coverage therefor have more pins giving me a larger first flush ?
I'll have a look now, thanks for the link bud.

Under most conditions the mycelium only starts the consolidation and fruiting processes after it has finished colonizing the substrate. If you leave them alone they’ll finish colonizing and then you can introduce FAE once they’re done with that. Given this is your first grow, I’d suggest for simplicity’s sake just leaving them be until they’re done colonizing then introducing FAE.

Perfect, okay will do. What about little droplets of water on the mycelium? I don't have any that I can see so far. But the RH is 90+% and walls and lid has droplets. Is that a thing that happens later down the line or should I use my fine mister when the casing is fully covered in myc?
Appreciate you answering my questions bud.

Happy to help. The water droplets eventually push themselves up during the final phase of colonization. If they’re not there when you introduce FAE then overmist so that the water falls gently onto the mycelium instead of misting directly.
Here’s a good reference for surface conditions: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23999053

Ahhh okay! That makes sense, I had perfect field capacity when I made the CVG so I was thinking it wasn't too dry etc etc.
I read through that earlier, some good bits in it. I'm gonna continue taking daily pics and updating the post if you wanna chime back in mate!

Big update guys, started to get little droplets of water on the surface of both boxes... I'm so fucking happy haha .
I originally made 4 jars the first 2 boxes pictured here were done with the front runners and I spawned one that was a lot slower on the 15th with no liner because I thought fuck it, lets just see what happens. Here are my results for all 3 boxes.
My 4th jar I opened today after seeing nothing much but a few bits of myc, stunk to high heavens so I threw that shit out.

Update for you all.

Image 1 + 2 is both boxes at 168hrs Image 3 is no liner box at 72hrs.
Any ideas why the no liner box is so much fluffier?

The last box looks contaminated comparing to similar pictures in this forum. However, I'm no expert. I'm sure you will get a nice answer here.

Hmmm... fuck. Here's a closeup of that box. Can anyone tell me if it's myc or something else. The jar smelt fine, the sub was the same I used for other boxes.
