So after a disappointing experience with eating 14g of dried amanita muscaria (wherein I only felt drunk for a bit), I decided to try one more time at ~2x the dose.
This time around I boiled ~26g of dried amanita for around 40 minutes to decarboxylate, strained and reduced to about a cup and a half of liquid (which I would continue reducing if I do this again). I drank the liquid around noon, in all of its offputting, umami-mucus-water glory.
A sense of mild nausea rose over the next hour, just enough that I wanted to grab a bucket and lay down. Most of this feeling faded by about the +1:30 mark, but a feeling of my stomach being overfull persisted for the bulk of the trip. At about this time I could sense some minor visual disturbances occurring, and my imagination was more vividly visual for the entirety of the trip.
At around the +2:30 mark was the peak of the experience, where I don't know if I was awake, asleep, or somewhere in between. In my mind, my life had become two 3x3 grids that were linked in some strange way, where how I moved on one would affect how time passed on the other. I would "move" between the tiles by centering my mental focus on a different part of my body. There were some video-game esque interactions I could choose to do on each grid tile as I learned how what I did on one grid affected the other. I believe this experience was entirely inspired by the fact I had been watching a streamer play games before I began. I came back to reality suddenly about 45 minutes later, and realized I must have been staring at the wall catatonically for the entire time.
I then realized that I was sweating absolute buckets, and when I got out from under my blankets I felt extremely cold. I also realized that I was producing ridiculous amounts of saliva, which would persist for another ~6 hours. And I mean I would have what felt like a mouthful after only a minute without swallowing, which was just plain odd to experience.
I tried to meditate to see if I could get back to that strange grid game, but I would just end up falling asleep off and on when I tried. Eventually I got up and had a bowl of soup. Immediately after finishing I vomited it all up, and that overfull feeling in my stomach disappeared. I decided that something less liquidy would sit better, so I ate some granola which stayed down.
I can't really place my finger on a whole lot of this trip's feelings, to be honest. There was an odd combination of physical relaxation with minor nausea and mental switch-flipping. After eating that food around +6:00, I still felt various mental and physical effects for another 4-5 hours.
Something I'd like to try again one day, maybe in combo with psilocybin mushrooms, but overall a mildly strange experience of near-dreaming.
