Is cannabutter worth making with decent quality bud?

I've been smoking so much lately that I'm thinking of taking what's left of my stash (about 1/4 oz high quality buds) and decarbing with a double boiler, then infusing in a slow cooker for several hours, then maybe baking the butter into some brownies.
Part of me thinks this would be a waste because it's better to smoke good bud than eat it, but if the bud were 20% THC and I made 14 brownies out of 7 grams then each brownie would have about 100 mg of THC which is a pretty great dose.
I have just had so many duds with cannabutter/edibles before that I am wary of using up my stash. Do you think edibles would be worth trying using this method or is it better to leave the extraction to the pros? I am just really curious lately what a potent edible high feels like as mine have never quite turned out.

Decarb in the oven @ 240º F for 40 minutes, using an oven thermometer to verify the temperature. Once done, grind the buds into a powder.
Mix the powdered decarbed buds with coconut oil, about 5g of flower to 2.5 tsp coconut oil and 1/2 tsp lecithin.
Heat mixture to 220º F for 20 minutes, then freeze, then heat again to 220. Done. You can skip the freeze/reheat step if you want less sleepy oil.
If you don't like bud particles in your edibles, you can infuse the coconut oil directly then strain out the plant matter, though there will be some cannabinoids lost with this method. You could also start with concentrates such as hash, rso, or rosin, which would be preferable for making potent edibles.

do it. its easy.
Any method you use, coconut oil or butter i recommend water so you can easily extract the particles out as the oil hardens and the water will not and hold the trash material. you can place a large cup in the freezer for like 30 minutes or so.
Its an experiment, so be free to make mistakes, of which there isn't many you can make here.
Also the decarb process is easily done in the crop pot over a few hours. No real need to place it in the oven. You can though. Like i said there isn't many mistakes that can be made.

Hey man! I've made some brownies with my homegrown bud and it was mostly trims from the flowers and flowers as well, ground up like 10 grams maybe more and decarbed them on a water bath, strain, and melt the butter with the greens. I got like 15 brownies and they were mind blowingly strong man, ate like 1.5 and i couldn't stand from the bed for a good hour and a half, really trippy. Don't know the exact amount of thc on the mg scale but they were goood.
So i'd say go for it

I'll say this:
Cannabutter is...quicker to make with decent quality bud
I always superheated butter to a boil, dissolve my good weed in there, stir for fifteen minutes. Strain. Then take the remaining weedstuff pulp and redo the butter thing except leave it in the butter and simmer for an hour or more
Voila you got two batches of good cannabutter

It's worth it.
It took me a while for edibles to work for me, but once they did. It's probably my number one way of consuming Cannabis now.
I decarb, then make cannabudder, then I bake those into brownies.
Or I do it the old school way, which is just grinding the weed in brownie mix and making pot brownies; no decarbing.

I find that decarbing my weed at 225 F for 90 minutes is better than doing 240f because you don't risk burning the cannabinoids. Decarb in an oven FIRST before baking with it. If you want efficiency, do an alcohol extraction and let all the alcohol evaporate. Scrape the concentrate and put it into a small amount of hot coconut oil. I like to use 1 fluid ounce of coconut oil so I can measure my dose easier. You can either eat small bits of the oil by itself or you can add the whole thing into a brownie mix or cookie batter or whatever.

I personally would rather smoke my quality nugs any day over making cannabudder with them but to each his own. You lose the smell, taste, uniqueness of the flower when decarbed and simmered with butter. I do enjoy the high of edibles though. I use my sugar leaves and larf. Decarb 40 minutes in oven at 240. Then I store them in ziplocks til use. Grab some out of the ziplock and throw it in a pot with half stick - stick of butter. Very low simmer for ~2 hours. I add a little water in the beginning to get everything swimming real nice. Add more water whenever it cooks off and is getting dry looking. At two hours or whatever you want, longer is better to a point, let it dry out, remove from heat, then squeeze through cheesecloth after it cools down a bit. I just throw this mason jar of cannabudder in the fridge and smear it on pancakes or do whatever you do with butter.

My edible tolerance is so high it is not even worth it to make edibles unless I get my hands on some really really cheap but semi good quality shake. Edibles don't really do anything to me unless I take 250 mg or more. My favorite dose is 400 mg. but it is such a waste of weed to make edibles in my opinion unless you really really love edibles and your tolerance is low. I would rather smoke flower.
One of the biggest problems with edibles is that it makes your tolerance skyrocket and then they don't do anything after a couple of times. Then I have to stop for a couple of days and then switch to smoking flower so I can get high again.

The main reason I don't do edibles often is the high ammount of weed you need for a single high.
Even with a pretty low tolerance I need to ingest like half a gram of bud to get high, .7g to 1g to really get floored. If smoked, I need max .2g to get glued to my couch. So orally it's roughly 5x more expensive..
But I like the oral high, though. THC gets metabolized differently via oral ROA, and it creates a much more psychedelic high.

Orally digested THC turns into Delta 11 THC whereas smoked THC turns into delta-9 THC. Delta 11 is much much stronger.

I've seen an eight of weed have almost 1g of thc in it. It usually goes around 500-700mg for less than 30 bucks.
You can easily add an eight of good bud and turn that into a few good doses or a lot of doses.
Don't let the price get in the way of an experience.
Although i personally get good quality trim and shake and make it from that, i am not apposed to using some high quality weed. Its definitely worth it.
I like to get 200%proof alcohol and make tincture out of that. My dose for that is easily 1/5th of a shot and one full shot if i want to go on a full blown psychedelic trip.

Yeah Pandemoon you hit the nail on the head. What I noticed making a roughly .5 g firecracker yesterday is that if I had smoked that bud, I would've gotten really stoned- via the edible I got that exact same amount of 'really stoned' except just less intense and spread out longer in exchange. So while the edible was still good, I could've just avoided that work and gotten a more intense high for shorter.
I guess it would be similar to mushroom tea vs eating them for me. The stretched out high has its merits but generally isn't as efficient. I would probably always do high edible doses rather than just keep smoking to get floored though

I made my cannabutter from just clipped leaves from a grow that was done a while ago, and it turned out pretty nice and I have no regrets about making it.
The biggest difference is that when I smoke stuff I don't need a lot (I smoke every few weeks and have no built up tolerance) and the kick lasts an hour, but when I eat stuff the entire kick lasts whole day, and continues after sleeping for a little while. It comes gradually, after 3 hours it really hits, and it hits for several hours to come and then gradually begins to taper off over the course of many hours. It seems the duration always remains roughly same, but you can choose the strength by amount you consume, from a mild buzz to glued to couch visual and physical distortions galore lol. It isn't something I do a lot though, because of the duration. I will be very clearly stoned for most of the day and will not be able to do normal things all that well lol

Firecrackers FTMFW every single time. It's the most efficient and least wasteful ever. 1 gram of high or mid quality bud will grip you for 8 hours give or take, depending on tolerance etc...
