I just applied for a second credit card

a couple weeks I applied for a loblaws loyalty card to collect points, between me and my gf we have bought about 200 bucks worth of groceries and already acquired about $15 in points
so I was on the loyalty card website today and it said if I get thier credit card by the 13th I will get $100 in points so I signed up for it
I have no idea how to even pay this credit card off, my current credit card is issued from my bank and I can pay it off from my banks website, so this will be a learning experience for me
I didnt see anything confirming I will get the $100 in points, so I will be extremly pissed off if I dont
the card isnt any better then my current card, I get 1% cash back on my current card, and I get 1% cash back in points on this new card
so the new card is actually worse, cause I can only use the cash back for groceries, instead of the cash back going into my account

Depending on what the rest of your credit report looks like this will either help or hurt your credit. I assume cuz your getting these cards you have atleast decent credit by opening the new account as long as your overall credit isn't like some high percentage of your income (creditors know your spread thin and thus more risky) and you make payments and keep the account in good standing it should help your credit. Forget the points worry more about the interest and fees and stuff. Points are usually next to nothing until u move up several notches in credit spending. Like it may seem great but in reality it barely offsets the absolute garbage interest and fees they hit you with. Its like holding a carrot in front of your face as they ass rape you. These scumbags fucking print money they should be blowing you for your business not the other way around.

If you never carry a balance month to month, typically you don't pay interest but you still get any rewards.

the interest is crazy like 29% on the new card, but on my current card I have never payed a cent of interest, I only spend what I have in my account and pay it off at the end of the month, I have had my credit card for maybe a year and a half
its a no annual fee card
on my current card I get 1% cash back on groceries and pharmacies and 0.5% back on all other purchases, it worked out to be about $35 a year for me, deposited directly into my bank account
on the new card I get 2.5% cashback in points at Shoppers Drug Mart and 1% cash back in points on all other purchases, that can only be spent at stores owned by loblaws, which there are 4 in my town, The Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, Valu-Mart, and Shoppers Drug Mart

The only times I ever got a reasonable amount of points from a credit card I must have spent like $40,000 on the thing over a year. And even then I had enough points for like 2 plane tickets Ontario to BC .... one way
It is kinda fucked how its legal for them to charge 29% interest. Credit card companies are savage.

You can link any credit card to your bank and make payments online.

2.5% back if you use their credit card at their store just means you're paying 3-4% more than you would if the program didn't exist otherwise.

Careful now. Shit adds up surprisingly faster than you could imagine.
