does it look like its ready for fruiting? the top looks fully colonized, maybe not fully consolidated but i would like to fruit if possible. also seems like its a bit dry since there is no moisture on the sides / surface doesnt appear wet.

thanks for all the help <3 my first tub

Hi, it's looking pretty good I think. I'm only on my second grow...and I took the pic below this morning. I went spawn to bulk on the first. Your's looks further along than mine. I was going to move mine into fruiting conditions in two days from now. Good Luck with yours!

Always spawn with fruiting conditions, youll get faster colonization.

Spawning conditions = fruiting conditions.

Fruiting only happens after full colonization.

I'm thinking since most substrates can be fruited in open air post full colonization and fruits will develop normally even in dryer areas as long as they're not completely deprived of basic needs. But if I try to visualise leaving a newly spawned substrate left to colonize in open air in a tub with the lid completely off at all times then I'd be kind of worried about growth conditions on or near the surface level. For one I'd be somewhat reluctant to spray water over drying out, naked grain that haven't been able to recover in a timely fashion before surface started drying out considerably.

Idk, but just something about adding water to a recovering, flimsy colony that's struggling with integrating into its new environment, just sound a bit like putting unnecessary stress on the organism which in no way shape or form actually even requires those rates of FAE so to introduce moderate FAE rates similar to balanced FAE rates during fruiting I know works pretty well and often will result in a healthy fast colonizing substrate. But then again if you have a bulk sub of a modest size and the Humidity in your growing area is low then I'd be careful not to introduce too fast evaporation which would serve no purpose at that stage of the grow and will only add in risks. But if your area isnt dry, and you're fairly confident about increasing FAE rates more than what's considered normal and you think Its definitely worth the risks and the hassle of monitoring the grow for longer since you expose it to trickier elements earlier on then its perfectly fine I guess, gl and have fun growing. But if you're someone that's fairly new and is only starting to learn and understand fruiting then I'd probably recommend to let bulk subs colonize normally with the lid on, minimal FAE and then to introduce fruiting conditions as soon as the surface appears to be up to something. The benefits of increasing FAE during colonization are neglidgeable but the risks involved especially for a noob arent imo. I actually haven't colonized subs this way with higher evaporation rates so I don't really know what I'm arguing against here but still.. :bongload:
