Spawn and lots of it. Get a bunch of grain jars fully colonized, and then take them and spawn them to the field. It will save you germination time, because you will be incubating them indoors at proper temps, and the fruiting time will be less overall!!!

Patternofchaos-ya i have thought of that, but i need it to be low maitenence since it is kinda far from my house. i was thinking of keeping it natural, but upping the production somhhow..i thought a higher quality food supplememnt that the mushies might also like would be in order. I am going to call the feed stores in my area to check on straw prices by the bale.  the only problem is that this is a big coastal hay producing area and i am not sure feeed stores in my area carry  straw.

there are a few other people he lets over to pick so i dont want them wandering into any "patches" i create so i was thinking of creating a "higher quality manure" spread over the whole field.

Make a lot of spore syringe's, then spray on food for cows and feed. :goodluck:

NO NO NO What you gotta do is this- Next time you get a gallon of shrooms from the field put all of them in a blender fill it up with water and blend it up real good. Then find one of those big sprayers they use on a farm to spray bugs, garden ,animals and shit with. You know it's gonna hold mabey 15 gallons? Anyway fill it up with all your funky shroom water. Go out on a damp warm foggy night and start spraying everywhere you can, find cow shit old and new, under shaddy spots, out in the open ,fuck man spray it anywhere you can. This simple tek works for a friend in florida

kramer says that is a damn good idea :crazy2:

I don't know if you'd want to use the sprayers that they use to spray pesticides and such, really. It seems like you wouldn't have too hard of a time just taking some spore prints and innoculating a rediculous amount of places there :P I guess that would be a bummer to have someone else pick your little spots, though.

Haha...sort of a weird idea, but it'd be amusing if you shot a spore syringe up each cow's ass and see if it spreads out the shrooms a lot. I wonder if that would work at all...because the way I've seen farmers handle their animals, they don't mind sticking their arms up animal arse, a syringe would be no problem.

thanks for the answers, i like the sprayer idea, i think i will be putting that idea to use.

but on the nutrition side, what kinds of feed can i get that both the cows like, and for max shroom production?

i've always heard that whole grains are good for shrooms, also cereal straw.  i was thinking of getting some of these ingrediants and let the cows do the digesting, and spreading of the medium. im sure my friend wont mind me fattening up the cows in the process.

You can feed your cows with coffee.Actually you have to make a search first on coffee and teks about it.(Things like adding water and pasteurize it in a pot till boiling  and then people came out with sugar in place of millet for extra nutrient and a little bit taste for cows :wink:You can also search for the 'coffee project' at the site shroomery.

Straw makes an excellent substrate for cubes ,but bad food for cows.
I grew up on a farm raising cattle and believe me you try and feed them straw and they will look at you like you are crazy and refuse to shit out any more shroom gardens until you get them some nice feed.

A cow's normal diet will consist of hay, grass, and supplements like grains. Usually we didnt feed them much grain until winter though because the fields had plenty of grass for grazing and we just fed them hay every night to help out the menu. Those little doggies eat massive amounts of hay and grass every day!!

You should be fine with the food they are getting. The key to increasing your harvesting lies in helping mother nature to spread the spores about the field. Cows love to congregate and shit in a nice shady area under trees. Find these hang outs on your friends farm and use what ever method you chose to play Johnny Mushroom Spores and you will have em poppin up everywhere in no time at all.

Good Luck
MYKEY

Oh and you might want to spread a nice bed of straw beneath those trees where the cows hang out. They will love you for the nice plush cow couch and it will ,without a doubt, help you grow some nice shrooms.

It seems, that cow eats spores with food, shits and produces mushrooms...so..If you add spores to the cows diet via in their food, they will ingest more spores and therefore be shittin out more mushies so to speak.

i would recommend taking the poo indoors and cultivating that way. there is too much risk of failure outdoors. if u are looking to expirement then by all means proceed but dont expect too much considering the urea and ph balance of the poo out there in the fields. perhaps if they were all male cows u would have better chances. then again im stoned and have no idea. ;-) peace

thanks for all the replies! thats the exact info i was looking for. now that i think about it i might just take some of the patties from the field and plant them in my backyard. that way i wont have to worry about others picking the fruits of my labor.
